Edit My Images
Yes
my wifeypoo visited on of our brides recently, to collect their order for album and reprints , along with the proofbook.
bride highly chuffed with the images as expected.
no prob there.
chatting away to bride , and my mrs notices a 7x5 photo in a frame, on the fireplace. of the bride and groom on the wedding day.
ok, she thinks, one of her relatives did have a good camera.
she looks again and realises , its on of her shots.
hang on, how could they have got that.all our on site proofs have the company logo all over em.and the particular shot couldnt have been taken by anyone else.
she was with the bride all day, even before the grooms arrival, and that particular shot was in the grounds with just the three of them. it was dark fairly quickly after , and the guests had all gone in. plus i was inside talking to the relatives .
they must have scanned the 60mm x 90mm proofshots in the proof book.
the cheeky bas.............
so when the studio opens , were showing the b&g their proofs on the big screen, and even the proofbook will have copyright written all over it.

opinions please.

Use a slideshow as proofs which is embedded so they cant reach each pic.

Certainly include it in your final invoice as a clearly identified separate item.

Problem is you don't know how many more they have scanned and realistically there is not a lot you can now do.

You could give them a litte fright, tell them you want all the scanned images returned to you or there will be no wedding photos supplied by you at all.

Then what are they going to do for wedding pix?

:naughty:

The best action to take here is no action. If your wife suspects that this problem is bigger than just a one off, then maybe apply some safeguards to stop the problem happening again.
However, if it wasn’t for this customer, you wouldn’t have known you had a problem and try not to spend too much time analysing very isolated issues or getting angry with a customer, you are much better off putting your efforts in to areas that can make you bigger profit. Go back to the customer, find out how pleased they are with your photos and ask them to recommend your business whenever they can.

Have they ordered a large(r) reprint of same image from you? Or is the reprint order from relative large or small? That would guide me as to my next action. Large order from them, i'd let it go with just an modest charge for the scanned image. Small or no reprint order....nail 'em

PS when is the sudio opening?

:agree:

to be fair, i think andreww hit in on the head, the repeat custom would be worth more to you i think. and anything you do, they will only say it is just the one photo. you will struggle to find out if they have any more.

i cant realy see the point in raising it with them. just makes us grief. and weve got a good earn from them.plenty of reprints too.
plus scanning from such a small image, they aint gonna get much bigger than 7x5 anyway.
we are going towards embedded dvd proofs anyway janice . we already do for the bigger weddings.and that has a 6 mnth life too.
just narks us that people are so sneaky.
all our services and reprints are paid for upfront.
steep, i would sooner get recomendation from customers based on our work, than rub em up the wrong way.thats how most of our work comes in now.

oh. we get the studio keys on thursday dave .
so opening should be a few weeks. in the process of ordering the new printer too.
you are invited to the opening of course.

It's frustrating I know, while the vast majority of folk are honest there are always going to be people who try to get something for nothing. You take what precautions you can and try not to lose sleep over the bad ones.

Don't knacker your potential client base over this. Take it on the chin, take measures to ensure it doesn't hapoen again and just write it off as 'one of those things'...

If you start throwing your weight around by denying them the images, you annoy them, anoy their family and put off potentially hundreds of future clients.
