Checking colour profiles in PS

I know this is fairly basic stuff but if anyone can offer me some advice on checking what colour space is assigned to a photo in PS and also as they are to be projected using a projector calibrated to standard Srgb as I need to be in standard Rsgb but there seems to be a few variations on this I am getting confused as which one I should be using for the European standard. I hope this makes sense to someone Many thanks

Edit/Convert to Profile, and set sRGB IEC61966-2.1 as the colourspace. File/Save As and check that the profile box is ticked... save.. done.

As for default colour settings... Europe General Purpose3 is what you want.

Thank you very much for that.. am I right in thinking that the default colour space is Adobe RGB (1966) and so every image I pp in PS needs to be converted to Srgb before saving?

It depends what your default colour settings are.

Set them with no image open, by going to Edit/Color Settings, and select Europe General Purpose 3 and then click OK, then close PS and that will then be saved as your default colourspace, and from then on, it will use sRGB as the default, not Adobe RGB1998.

Also.. when setting your default colour settings, tick the three boxes that warn you of profile mismatches.

As a final check, always use File/Save As not just save, or CTRL+S as this then has a box to check to ensure you are saving with the correct profile.
