I have bought some cheap filters, 2. 4. 8, after use I have found a blue cast, I know I know .....lol. So if I get a grey card and do a measure WB metering with filters on, will it make the colour neutral. When taking pic.

I use Camdiox ND10's and they have no colout cast. In 72mm and 77mm about £10/£13 great for a cheap filter.

I'd agree with Martin - there are plain filters out there with minimal cast which aren't exactly expensive for 100mm squares. I reckon a better experiment would be with a single semi-ok filter for that £10-20 mark and then decide what you want to invest in (rather than 3-4 ultra cheap ones). Still, it's easy to correct by doing exactly what you say. Only some of the really bad ones have such strong casts that you lose colour - most are ok.

Grads are harder because any cast usually varies across the frame, depending on the density. That's where paying for a cast-free filter is worth it.

Thanks i will stick with cheapo,s for now, now i know how to get the most out of them, with WB measured,

Bear in mind that cheap filters can also degrade image quality. It's a bit of a lotto

The SRB filters are also well priced and good quality.

Thanks - I've used Haida before and that was good

Good first attempt with ND filters and might be a good idea to paste the EXIF file so others can see what settings was used.

I know generally people say don't buy cheap but I've just got a screw on 10 stop ND (ND1000) from Zomie, it cost £36 and as far as I can tell has almost no colour cast, well made glass element. I'm made up with it. It seems better quality then the Cokin P series I have which give an awful colour cast.
I of course need to do more testing.
Got the a size for my biggest lens and got step up rings for my other lenses.
