Cheapest place to buy CS3

At a guess the cheapest way to buy it is to book yourself onto the OU photography course and buy CS3 using your student discount.

be nice to a student, give them the cash for it and let them get it for you.
 
I did as Steep suggested last year circa £100 for the course
( or tesco vouchers, seriously)
and Circa £160 for CS3 extended.
Sorry I can't remember the exact figures but the post is lurking around here somewhere
 
CS3 extended for students is £139

Its exactly the same as the retail version but the license key you get from Adobe is an Education one, not a commercial one.

Licence key is exactly the same. You just have to provide proof that you are a student.
It's not like you have to return CS3 after you stop being a student.

You can also get Lightroom for about £80.

The keys are from a different set of control strings and denote to Adobe that it is an Educational Authorisation when you get your authorisation code from them.

Info from Adobe as a mate works for them.
 
If i'm not a photograqphy student can I still get it for student price? I do Architectural Technology part time....and have student ID...or I could get the girlfriend to buy it...
 
as long as you are a student of somesort you can claim the student prices. all that is needed is the student ID. (if bought through adobe online)

What happens with the student version is that it is not upgradeable when Adobe bring out CS4. Other than that, it is the current version of the software.

I posted the original thread last year about how you go about getting this via the OU course, deal with Adobe Education Unit directly and you can pay them for the software. They just want proof that you are either a full/part time student (relevant course not required) which I had to fax to them.

You can use this route to purchase any Adobe software so can buy Lightroom or anything else at student prices.
