Yes
Trying to beat the price rises...
Where the cheapest at the moment

IMHO I'd just wait it out, the lens was around £1k for ages, and IMHO its honestly not worth much more. Especially when you look at the optics Tamron put in their 70-200.

I wouldn't pay £1300 for one, let alone £1899 which will be the March 1st RRP.

You think it will go back down again?
But how long before thats the question.
I would rather get it the now and pay £1350 than have to pay £17-18 or even more.
Personally I dont think its worth that much.
I have a 55-200 at present and I have the D3 now so full frame seems to be the only option....

What do you guys recon?

I but I want the f2.8 and thats about the only full frame zoom lens that about.
Thats how i have the problem.
70-300 isnt full frame.

Jessops dont have it in stock at any stores near to me and they are doing it for £1350 plus I have a 5% off code which would take it down to like about £60 ish quid...

if you want 2.8 then fair do's - i didnt see that as an issue as you were using the 55-200

The 70-300 is full frame - im sure puddleduck will confirm, hes owned i think every nikon lens made

Theres nothing wrong with the 55-200 it jsut if i go to shot a gig and the light is crap.
Which it usually is I will need the 2.8
the 55-200 i something like f4 at 55 and f5.6 at 200.
Crap for lowlight and other details.

70-300 isnt full frame.

Every 70-300 you can buy is full frame, regardless of manufacturer.

You can't actually make a DX version of a 70-300 - as it wouldn't be any smaller than a full ffame one even if you did!

You're using a £100 lens designed for the D40 on a D3? Isn't that a bit....err.....err....counter-productive?

Well smart guy....

I dont but i will need the bigger lens soon and due to the prices going crazy I cant see me buy one when they go up.

Counter productive yes.
But at the time I was using a D50 so thats how it went with it.

No chance with the 2nd hand they go withing minutes on here.
New seems the only option.
Jessops are a little more expensive but I have found a 5% off code and that will take it down a bit.
I just dont know what to do.

Im not sure if I should just wait it out and buy one nearer the summer.>>>>>:bang::bang::bang::bang:

Plus I bought the 55-200vr because my 55-200 broke and I dont think I have ever used it.
Waste of money

The current Jessops code is SPRING50 (for £50 off), although LENS10 (10% off lens purchases) might still work
