Hi Im considering getting a cheap basic flash, I dont need any TTL or anything for now but i would like to be able to set the power. I would like it to be low voltage triggered. I Have a Nikon D80, but i dont think that will effect things much as I plan to set the power manualy and for the most part trigger it with some cheap wireless triggers (but thats another topic).

Any advice on a cheap second hand flash from ebay?

I bought a second hand flash for my canon and it the jessops own make, bought it second hand from amazon.

Works well enough for me at the moment as I am just starting out.

cost me £40 but they are only £99 new

^thanks thats what i think i will get. the YN-460 flash and the Yongnuo 602 trigger/receiver. looks like that will do everything i need for now. I'm not eligible to trade through here yet but thats ok I'll just endure the wait from china.

If you're still looking the Canon 540EZ can usually be had pretty darn cheap. It's powerful and reliable too....

I've had one a while - it's pretty decent - not hugely powerful, but excellent for the money - controllable down from full to 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 and 1/64 power. Works with my cheapo DX triggers, or with its own optical slave. For the brass i'm happy.
