If you are trying to learn wordpress on a live site is very difficult as you have too much new stuff to learn all at once.
What I did was to use a program called Instant WordPress. This program turns your computer into a temporary web server which allows you to play with and learn creating websites with Wordpress, learning its nuances without worrying about making a mistake that will take down a live site. The websites you create in Instant Wordpress can if you are happy with your work can be uploaded to your hosing company using appropriate plugins.

Wordpress can be daunting, but once you get the hang of it its actually quite simple.

I would suggest finding someone locally who can give you wordpress lessons, that way you end up with a site you can maintain easily, and saving quite a lot of money.

Alternatively Squarespace / Wix.

SiteSpinner software to build your own site. It's a lot easier to use than adobe products and there is a forum to help with the build. It is not for complicated websites though and you have to be prepared to learn. Then use"UK cheapest" for domain name and hosting. Hosting is about £20 per year for 5GB of space.

Ok I have decided to get some one else to do my web site so what questions should I be asking ,I know what I want ,secure passwords for viewing and purchasing etc any other technical things I should be asking thanks

Hey Ladybird, I was a professional web designer/developer for close to 10 years, worked with international multi corps and small one man bands. before changing profession. My advise would stick with square space. Price against usability, support and features you will not find in a bespoke solution!
I'd recommend writing up a feature list / requirements and getting in touch with square space, they will tell you what they can and cant provide you for £15-£30 a month!

I never got on with WP either. If you google photography websites loads will come up like photo shelter etc... I went for sqaurespace, while it has some limitations it is excellent and just what I needed.
