Hi im looking for a cheap travel camera around the £200 mark

I don't mind second hand

I've been looking at the lumix gx1 with a pancake lens

What do u recommend?

Thanks

Gf6 with a 12-32?

Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1
Only one available used. MPB.

Lens (14-42) will be about the same so £100 covers it.

I love this camera. Small, neat, versatile.

I would try and find an Oly EPM2 as it has the 16mp Sony sensor which basically means you get up to date image quality for peanuts, it also has IBIS which I found good for a stop or two.
It doesn't have a viewfinder but the screen is pretty good.

The GX1 doesn't have a viewfinder although one can be added at extra cost. My first M43 camera was the Olympus EPM1 and I found the screen difficult to see in bright light, I did buy a viewfinder for it but it added time to fit it to the camera which meant missing some shots. I moved on to a Lumix G5 and bought my wife a G3 which she still has, these obviously have viewfinders but aren't quite as compact as the Olympus Pen series.. Both would be in budget and both have 16mp sensors. The G3 tends to be around £90 to £100 body only and the G5 about £130 body only from such as MPB. The difference in image quality between the G3 and G5 is scarcely discernable but I would excpect them to be better than the 12mp sensors fitted to the G1 and G2 and from experience certainly better than my 12mp Olympus EPM1.

The first version of the Lumix add on viewfinder has a low resolution and users seem to find it quite poor.

The GX1 was good at the time, but unlike classic film cameras, the improvements in newer models are significant and will effect image quality.

The micro four thirds sensor is quite small compared to apsc and full frame, so older models will suffer from significant noise issues, especially in lower light/higher iso.

I'd recommend a Fuji X series with the 27mm pancake lens, as the bigger sensor is less prone to noise issues, even with Series 1 sensors, or a newer Lumix model with the 20mm pancake lens.
