Cheap monopad - £4.99 on sale

170cm! that is impressive, my current one, which I rarely use is 150cm, is often just annoyingly too short....tempted!

Ordered one.
Stupid not to at that price and I'm in no rush for super fast delivery.

Can anyone recommend a cheap head to go with it?

Just be aware the maximum load is a measly 3.5kg, i personally wouldn't load anything more than 2kg on that pod just to be on the safe side

Ideal for sticking a flash on top of though....

It's not as if it's going to support any weight without you holding on to it as well, no monopod does.

Ah right, ill get one for my D3S and 400mm f/2.8 then :cuckoo:

Lol that would be a risky combo on a what is essentially a budget monopod :D

I'm only going as far as the 50D and bigma lens on this and that combo weighs in at 2.kg.

That's one good reason and I suppose if it was one handed operation it could be useful, a b & s head is neater but can be fiddly when you've only got one hand free to work it.

I was just talking about this with my dad, he says it would be handy if your shotting something thats not level with you, as that will allow you to tilt the head back whilst keeping the rest level instead of tipping the whole monopod back

Thanks for posting. The reviews on the deluxe version seem to indicate the handle being a bit of a bother...
I have a manfrotto 222 on my current monopod which is great. I'm looking for a cheap monopod for a friend, so if I bought the £4.99 one, does anyone have a recommendation for a head to go on the monopod? because I dont think it comes with a quick release plate

Hmmm, interesting. Do you think this could be used as a poor mans boom arm?

All it would need is some sort of adapter for one of my light stands that would hold the monopod firmly in place around the middle sections, and then I could put a flash and brolly on the business end, and dangle a counter weight on the other.

Some sort of clamp maybe .... anyone any ideas?

Just a note, if you search for 'WT1003 monopod' you'll find a bit more info, because other companies also stick their name on the monopod.
Dolica sell this, there's a few youtube videos. One guy said he uses it for his flash

Just got mine & seems good value for money!

For the label snobs you can apparently remove the 7dayshop logo with solvent cleaner

Yup, mine too, does a decent enough job with my 70-300vr on a d90. Good height on it too.

Hi

Can these be used with a small camcorder? Also which head would work best with the monopod.

Thanks

Just got mine at the start of the week there and it works really well with my 450D. Not too sure about how level it is when you attach the camera but for a fiver, can't complain.
