Would anyone like to comment on this lens as to wether they are any good as they seem to be quite cheap on e-bay.Being new to photography and liking wildlife i am looking at lenses for this but a lot seem very expensive.

SAMYANG 800mm f/8.0 Mirror Tele Lens / Canon 550D 500D

I've held one of these, but nothing more. It's quite a short, but chunky lens but it's not particularly heavy. I'd probably invest in a decent mount for one of these.

f/8 and donut shaped bokeh. If that's what you want...

Mirror lenses are compact and cheap, but are very limited due to their fixed aperture (f8 usually), and 800mm on your camera would equate to around 1200mm in 35mm terms.
I can't comment on the quality, but I'd be very surprised if you would be happy with this for wildlife.
If its a budget ebay special you're after, try waiting for something along the lines of an old sigma 400mm f5.6, or a canon 70-300mm zoom

Ok thanks for all the info.Obviously not all that promising.I will wait until i can afford something decent. Thanks again everyone.

I've read poor reviews of that samyang 800.

My father had a Sigma 600 F8 mirror, which was regarded as one of the best mirror lenses around at that time. It was hopeless, even on film.

Ultimately what he and I have found is that there are no short cuts to long lenses - if you want anything of decent optical quality it will cost you. These days there are some much better lower-cost options than there have been at any point in the past, but F8 mirror lenses aren't those...

As said. Poor optical quality, classic doughnut bokeh, not very fast, avoid.
