Hello! For obvious reasons on the above I would think that most people would steer clear of the cheap offerings on EBay as you get what you pay for but.......has anyone just taken a punt on cheap product?

Id be interested to hear what people have found?!

As a guess I'd avoid, you may well get stung for import tax, no warranty and probably still mroe expensive than a decent used UK example (from a supplier with a warranty).

Thanks for the answer. I know the pitfalls but just wondered if anyone had chanced their arm before?

Hi,

Wouldn't even consider it, due to import tax, warranty, no delivery.

It's just not worth it.

I guess it depends what your definition of 'Cheap' is really?

I've heard good things about the Samyang 8mm and other similar lenses, I think they're around £200 which obviously is cheap for a fisheye...

I've bought a few C-mount lenses from Japan, an E-mount lens from HK and loads of parts from China (replacement screen, body case, etc). No problems so far. The delivery times from each country vary a lot. HK products can arrive within 5 days, while from China take over 1 month.

I've also bought a lot of torches from Hong Kong without any trouble.

I've got loads of stuff from the east with no problems. And free delivery in under a week sometimes!
But its all buyer beware ain't it. Just check their feedback, read everything, understand exactly what your gettin before hitting the buy button and you should be ok.
I have bought cheap radio flash triggers but since getting some hanhel ones i have realised how utters*** the cheap ones are. But, they served a purpose and fired sometimes lol.
I think the best buy I've had is the yn-460 flash. Love it, cheap as chips free fast delivery and still going strong.

i bought a D7000 battery grip (MB-D11) on ebay once and is one of those import from Malaysia. The price was cheap because i paid £130 for the original grip and i've been tax and handling fee by the courier as well. So end up paying £160 ish in total.

Consider the grip sells for £300 ish at that time in UK i think i got a deal.

It really depend on what you buy, for lens i probably won't buy import on ebay.
