If you can get the second one, slightly more but much better guide number.

Also... What do i need to know about flash, what features do i need etc? its all a mystery

I have both of these and the Yongnuo is a more powerful unit than the TT520, however they are both good. I use them in a home studio scenario with wireless transmitters and they perform well.
The back of the TT520 is much easier to see than the Yongnuo though, especially when it is on a light stand as you can only clearly see the LCD panel on the Yongnuo when you're looking directly at it, while the LED's on the back of the TT520 stand out clearly.
The Yongnuo seems more robust than the TT520 and is the one I take out and about with me.

Both are manual flashes though so won't do any TTL work with your camera. If you need that function then you're looking at something like this:

Yongnuo 565EX eTTL

I purposely went with manual flashes as it helped me to understand and learn what is happening.

I recently got the yn-560 II from Amazon and I've been very pleased with it so far.
Agree with viewing the screen though, just need to drop the stand down to view properly. Nice powerful flash though.
