Hi,

I'm looking to pick up an extra couple of flash's to use off camera. They wont be used very often and only for home use - portraits of the kids etc... hence why i decided on this route (that and watching a demo on TFC at FOCUS :D)

As all i want them for is manual firing, using some cheapy radio triggers which I'm yet to pick up I was hoping not to spend much.

Does anyone have any experience of these YongNuo (YN-465/445) flashes i see all over a well known auction site?? Are they cheapo rubbish or every bit as good as some of the more expensive ones (as some of these cheapo jobs are)?

Or any other recommendations? Should I aim a bit higher at the likes of Nissin etc...?

Cheers
Nick

I use the yongnuo and have had no issue with it. But then I have got equally good results with a £25 jessops flash, an old jessops flash from ebay and an even older flash that I can't recall who made.

If your not using it much, I wouldn't splash much cash when these will do the job.

Thanks Lawrie,

I'll keep an eye on some of these YN's on ebay then and see if i cant pick up a few on the cheap.

I just sold a pair of YN-460 II's on here...nice off camera...cheap flashes...do the job well...

Think someone might still be selling a YN-465...

Cheers Stevie, I'll have a look - pity i missed your 460's as those are the ones i'll go for i think.

from what i gather the addition to (and justification for price increase) the 465's is E-TTL which i wont require for off camera use.

Vivitar 285. loads on ebay. from £25
A solid old flash made for film camera, advise not to put on a digital camera but perfect for off camera and lots of power.

You might have a problem with high trigger voltage with some older flash guns when it comes to using Radio Triggers.

Nick, I have a brand new Nissin Di622 Mark II I've used once that I don't need. Yours posted for 100 quid.

Dean: Thanks for the offer - i'd have defo had that had i not bought a sigma one last week for on camera use. For my off camera stuff i was hoping to get both of them for under 100 lol

Duncan - thats a good price for those - they are based in hong kong i think though - as there is a link at the top of the page saying something about HK postal delays. Cheapest i found so far was 32.99 posted (in the uk).
