Yes
I have a couple of sandisk extreme III 2GB and I would like to expand my collection by a further 4GB but would like that in 2 x 2GB rather than one 4GB to spread my risk should a card fail.

I'm tempted to go for the £22.99 2GB cards on play.com but was wondering if anyone knew of a cheaper brandname alternative? I'm thinking lexar, kingston etc and would want something of around the same speed as the extreme III.

Let me know if anyone knows of anything,

cheers!

I would (and did) go for the Sandisks from play.com - though I think they were cheaper when I got mine. To be honest I cant tell a blind bit of difference between the Ultra II and Extreme III so might save yourself a little bit and go for the Ultras only £16.99 each :)

Yea i hit that one earlier, went to around 21.99 with postage. Plumped for mx2 at 19.99 delivered, I believe a few on TP have had joy with them.. hope so!

The original question about cheap alternatives is interesting to me... i've checked out a few speed tests etc to see how they fare against claims. In the end I went with this Extreme III as it's gonna be an improvement on the Ultra II's i've been using and my relatively slow s2pro isn't going to write raw necessarily much faster, buffer filled that is. So I think Extreme III should take it as fast as it will go, whereas if i pop it in my d70s i think it should write faster. Wish it would on the s2pro tho.. here's to hoping for a swift delivery ':)'

Ive ordered from MX2 with no probs HTH ;)

be careful buying from amazon market place. The stock is likely to be about as good as that on eBay. As it's just sole individuals and small companies.

i got mine a few months back (2GB extreme III) shipped by amazon themselves for about £26 - at least you know it's genuine and you're not risking your photos and the speed of the thing on a cheapo fake.

Thanks for help, I plumped for the extreme III from mx2 for 19.99 including postage, I ordered 2 so should now be well sorted with 9GB of cards in total.

with a post service as bad as Edinburgh's I think I can safely say that you will win comfortably.

I've never had cause to complain about the post before but the service in Edinburgh since moving here 4 months ago is abysmal - lost parcels, not being able to get through on the phone to request redelivery, redeliveries not happening on the requested day, post for other flats regularly put through our door, post for us being delivered to others, delivery time slipping by 3 hours from before 8 to gone 11, having to wait a week for some items to arrive back at the sorting office.....:bang: :bang: :bang:

Sorry, got me on to a bit of a rant there!:bonk:
