I'm nearing the end of my 1st roll of HP5+ so am starting to plan ahead to the develop stage. I know the temperature is important with developing, but less so with B&W.

I've been looking on eBay at digial probe thermometers as they are easier to read than a sprit one. The description says +-1C, would that be close enough for B&W? Strikes me as trying to read a spirit thermomter that acurately is easier said than done for many plus once the fluid it in the tank it's going to drop a bit anyway.

These where the ones I was looking at:

That'll be fine, i used a similar one for C-41 devving.
For B&W I don't bother any more, but many people do.

Exactly the same one that I use, I have a much more expensive electronic Durst one, but I find this just as accurate, it has been dropped, soaked and generally mis handled and still works very well!

Well after reading this bought one and testing it against my accurate Kodak mercury thermometer @ 19c and the difference was 0.2 C...my old Paterson digital differed from the two by 0.6C....well Paterson made quite a few crappy products and for me they didn't last or broke but I was enticed by the cheaper prices. But when Paterson took over Johnsons they had two great products Unitol for B\W and Photocolor II for C41 but they went down the pan in the end and the II was much cheaper than Tetenal...but Tetenal are still around h'mm
