Looking for a first camera for my kids to use (nearly 10 and 12) Something fairly easy to use but would still like manual controls. Would be nice also if it had Wi-Fi for transferring photos and printing but not essential. Second-hand options are fine.

I guess around £60 ish give or take

Cheers

Have you got a budget in mind?

I have a Panasonic LX1 that I picked up for £25 for my kids and a Canon A80 (uses AA batteries) that I picked up for £10.

The Panasonic LX1 shoots RAW and has pretty good IQ to the extent that I would be happy to use it myself.

The Canon A80 is going with my son on a school trip so if it breaks or gets lost it's no drama.

A wifi-enabled camera would cost significantly more than this probably.

Canon G9 is a great choice as well but seems to be selling for around £100 on eBay, which is quite steep. I had one and and it's great at ISO 80/100 but above that you will get significant noise in the image. It shoots RAW as well.

Olympus Tough 4.

Waterproof up to 5meters and rugged. Also does video, and looks cool. I think it has WiFi as well.

Great little all round camera.

Now you come to mention it, I think I do have a Olympus Tough lying around somewhere, no doubt an earlier model, certainly doesn't have wifi though. Cheers for the input

Ha, I guess that would have helped....Around Probably no more than £60/70 I guess....Will update original thread

Will look into the others you mentioned, cheers

Great, I had a Fuji x20, was a lovely little camera....might have a scout around for an x30 but will look into other as well. Cheers

Do you have an old kit lens, or something similar you fancy upgrading?

...maybe a crazy idea, and OK it's not a compact, but how about a D40? No WiFi but has reasonable controls, has P&S mode, weighs little, and quite small for a 'proper' camera.

...you might have to hide your other lenses though :D

I really need to upgrade my status, I haven't had any Nikon cameras for about 3 years [emoji3]
