Hi all - I'm in need of a couple of new car tyres as detailed below. Can anyone recommend somewhere cheap to get hold of a pair? So far MyTyes.co.uk are the cheapest at £190.00ea!
I paid £151.00ea for a set of 4 last year and the same place now want £210.00ea. That's some serious increase. :shake:

Vredestein Sessanta Ultrac 255 x 35 x 19

Thanks for looking

Gareth

I had a similar issue when buying these (albeit narrower) for an Impreza. Last year Camskill were the cheapest ( www.camskill.co.uk ) but the same tyre this year was up 15%.

Best deal (and service) I could find recently was from Elite Tyres ( I have them delivered and then fitted locally) www.elitedirect.com . For your tyre it looks like £186 delivered. If the mytyres price includes fitting it might be difficult to beat.

Edited to add: excellent tyre, by the way!

Have you tried http://www.blackcircles.com/

They operate through local tyre fitters. Find a good price on the website, phone your closest fitter and get them to match the price.

Watch out for fitting and old tyre disposal costs.

Try e-tyres. They include mobile fitting, disposal and lifetime free puncture repair in their price.

If you want cheaper tyres then you need smaller rims. 19" are always going to be silly money :)

Paul - It was Camskill who I also used last year too. They have always been way cheaper than anyone else, but this year not so. And yes they are a good tyre which is why I want to stick with them.

Unfortunately, they don't appear to do the Vredestein tyres.

Tell me about it! :bonk::D

You've worn out a set of tires in 12 months? My God!
What do you do to get through them that quick?

My car is 2 years old and has just had it's 6th set of front tires. Apparently they should be £350 per pair. Thank god the lease company pay.

I had a set of soft rubber that lasted 2 weeks, plus a trip to the Alsace in France. The fronts were swapped to the rear before we came home. That was on a Focus ST pulling about 270 BHP & 300 ft/lbs though. And the roads in the Alsace are very, very twisty  :naughty:

Was going to say I get about 4-6k miles out of a set of fronts.

I have a pair of 255/35/19s (5-6mm of tread from memory) and 295/30/19s (4ish mm of tread from memory) in the garage if you would consider part worns, they are decent, Michelin Pilot sports I think. PM me an offer if your interested.

Just checked elite for the michelin agilis I use on my van £115, I paid £105 from costco but that was when the vat was 17.5% so probably £110 now

If you're getting through tyres that quickly it'd be worth a costco membership if you can get one, at least 2x a year they do 20% off 4 michelin tyres, as it's 20% off before the vat it's like getting one free

they don't have to be all the same or fitted when bought, the fitted price also includes inflating with nitrogen

My GF and I also use Elite, as they are driving distance from us. A couple of times I've used etyres mobile fitting as well. Of the two I go with whoever is cheapest or most convenient at the time.

As we're talking about life expectancy, on my Nissan 200SX S14 my first set of tyres (Yokohama A028) lasted 40K of mostly motorway miles. The next set (Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3), mostly of shorter journeys and B roads about 30k.

Have you considered changing make to say Avon, which are around the £150 mark ?

Vredestien is a very unusual choice...

what i do is go to kwik fit online, find the online price, print it out then take it to local kwik fit and get them to price match their own online price.

so far that price has never been beaten, you dont have to pay postage, and you can get your tyres done now instead of 2 days time.

goodyear eagles in your size £174

i use mytyres.com that and camskills is probably the cheapest places online and have good reputations

I need new tyres and last year bought online from a company very similar to BlackCircles but much cheaper, now I need them again they seem to have gone, maybe too cheap as they delivered free from Scotland to Scunthorpe and the rest of the UK ..........cant think of the name and dont fancy going through about 5000 or so emails, so if anyone comes across decent priced P6000s let me know

Costco for me.

will be going for the Sessanta's next time round, although my current Toyo Proxies 4 don't seem to be wearing as quick as I thought (with 330 ft/lb torque and a lead foot :) )

Another vote for etyres from me, especially as my local chap lives in the next road.

I generally use Goodyear eagle F1's or Toyo Proxie T1-R's. Great tyres for the british climate and reasonable as well, plus I put 382bhp through them and they last/grip well.

Malc always does me a good deal!

camskill tend to be cheap but at that size there all going to be expensive, even ditch finders in 19" are over £100 per corner, although i never had a problem running them

a friend researched on blackcircles and found the fitter and tyres and then rang them up himself and saved himself circa £20-30 on each tyre of similar value you are looking at

Ended up going with Elite as they were the cheapest and had them in stock. I'll just have to take them to our local tyre fitter when they arrive.

Cheers for all the input!
