Yes
Bought a "holiday" lens from another member before travelling to Greece for a few weeks. Cost £65 and I didn't really expect it to become a bit of a favourite. Still keeping my primes, but this little beauty will stay with me forever! Not bothered about feedback or what on earth have I done PP etc.
For a little snapper like me, it's just the ticket.

Er! and just what lens is this little gem???

Yep, it's the 18-70. Not sure what the original price was when it first came out. Holiday shots from Greece were way above expectations, but I thought that the ISO 100 and great light might have played a major part in that.

That little gem was the lens ranked way up in the heights of the reviews for Kit Lenses in its day. Probably still rates against modern day kit lenses.

I've never come across anyone that has denigrated its qualities and performance.... DO NOT EVER LOSE IT !!!

Thanks Chuckles. Loving retirement and snapping. Someone said that I should look at LYNDA.COM for help with photography. Can't see any prices and I'm not sure what to do. Courses are few and far between round here.

Yep, it's the 18-70. ......................

had 1 on my D40 then the D5000 - sold it - missed it - so bought another for my D300
i have found very slight dark corners at 18mm when using a PL-C filter

so bought a 67-72 step-up adapter and now use a 72mm PL-C with a 72mm generic screw-on hood
this way i can rotate the PL-C using the hood, without trying to get my fingers inside the supplied 67mm Nikon HB-32 'petal' hood

That was the kit lens which came with my D70.
FF now, so got rid of it, but a stonker of a lens.
And what's more, you are putting it to good use too.

Got to be one of the best kit lenses, been my everyday lens from the D70 trough to my present D7100.:)

You made a good job of the "Moon" at YSP
I'd gone with the idea of taking photos of quite a few of the exhibits, but glad that I concentrated on just a few. Need to go back and try again. If you look towards the centre of the sphere, you can see a very poor attempt at trying to hide myself from view. Pity about the worn grass area. Sometimes it's better to concentrate on one or two things and revisit. I love the shape and colours.

I was there the other week on a preview of the Not Vital exhibition and was watching the YSP tog .
Had a chat and he reckoned the only way you could shoot that and not get yourself visibly in the shot was from a long way back with a very long lens when there are no people
I will go back with my 100-400 and TC and see if that works
