Cheap Bean to Cup Coffee Machine - anyone?

As above, it's personal taste.

My standard coffee is raja batak from Monmouth Coffee but others can't stand it. I usually buy some Lavazza Espresso beans too vary the options at times.

If you're asking because you are buying, I'd head to the supermarket and buy their own brand Columbian beans, safe bet. After that let your wife choose for herself, she'll have fun finding out what she likes and what not. If you want to spend a bit more, do the same thing but add a voucher to one of the on-line coffee suppliers that she can spend on what she wants.

Thanks!

I've tried a bunch of stuff and a couple of the pricier niche suppliers. For some reason I always prefer the own brand from Waitrose to any other supermarket's finest. Personally I don't think it's worth spending more on Rave etc. I know that's heresy but I just go on what like the taste of ;)

Do people seriously drink that much coffee to warrant £100's on a machine?
I have a cafetiere ( At the back of the cupboard) but normally for the odd cup or two per day I'll drink
Kenco Millicano

I have a cafetiere for use at work (and a hand grinder to grind the beans) but if I ever buy a coffee it's an espresso - I would quite like to be able to have an espresso at work rather than always cafetiere coffee.

It's a bit off topic, but if I wanted to make espresso at home with minimum of fuss and especially cost (I bet I only do it once a week), is my best bet one of those Italian style stove top metal jug things?

ETA: I really really don't want to use capsules.

Moka pots make a nice cup of coffee, but produces very little crema if thats important to you. Personally I wouldn't recommend the aluminium ones, not necessarily because its harmful, the juries out on that, but I find them a pain to keep the water container free of furring.

You could try the Aerobie Aeropress coffee maker if you don't want to use a stove top maker.

Thanks - yes, I have an Aeropress and love it. I'm looking for something a bit more espresso for special occasions.

Hmm. I'm genuinely not sure how important that is to me...... Might try a cheap moka pot and see how happy I am with it.

i like the idea of a fully manual espresso maker like this - it's like using a traditional manual everything camera

Oh those are beautiful. But far more than I want to pay - also too bulky for an occasional use item.

And 179.99 at Argos but the free extras offer is gone.
