Cheap and reliable SSD recommendations

I'm after a 256GB 2.5" SSD (or 512GB if the price is really good) to put into a USB3 enclosure.

Cutting edge speed isn't important (I assume whatever I buy will be significantly faster than any spinning disk) but cheap and reliable are the desired attributes for this usage. It's to be used with a Mac (if that makes any difference) and powered via the USB.

Any recommendations (make, model and vendor) would be gratefully received - many thanks.

Getting around 480MB/sec using these two connected via USB 3

Prices have dropped considerably.I have used a Samsung Evo 850 in my Macbook pro and it is less than 65pounds and good reviews.

I put a kingston 256GB in my i7 Dell 15R , much much faster now and came with all it to swop over too. Inc a HD caddy so my old HD is now an external to dump large files in
