Hello again guys, wondering if there are any compacts out there in the £50-100 price range that can shoot raw and have full manual controls?

I am not looking for any mega zoom, a maximum of 100mm equivalent would be plenty but would be ideal if it had a 50mm equivalent fixed lens.
 
You budget might be a bit optimistic (unless you buy second hand), but I got a panasonic TZ35 for £159 recently, which would meet your brief
 
Thanks guys, the Olympus sp-350 looks good but really do not want a super zoom like the panny, should have explained myself better :P

I would really like a fixed focal length to help me think more about about my composition and have on me all the time so it gets used so are there any fixed focal length compacts in that price range, I will consider any but would like to be as close to 50mm as possible :)
 
The sigma DP3 would be ideal if it didn't cost 800 quid - i think you might be asking for a bit much to be honest
. The only way you'll get a fixed focal length in your price range is to buy a base model but they won't bre fixed at 50mm equivalent nor will they have manual control

(why not just buy a zoom and use it on a 50mm zoom setting to help you think about composition)

Or use film of course - there are lots of full manual legacy film compacts available

I am happy to buy second by the way and I am sure such a camera is out there somewhere considering what you can get for £150-200 that are very recent, I remember someone saying in another thread they picked up a ricoh for about £80, granted I think that was a 35mm focal length but still...
 
You might be able to pick-up a Canon G10 with that budget, not fixed focal length but much more restricted than a super-zoom compact. Watch Ebay, but don't forget CEX and Cash Converters - these two are the rising stars of second hand bargain hunting on the High Street.
 
the best compact i've ever use sony rx100.. If you are lucky, you could find the used one with reasonably price.

But it don't shoot raw, sorry
 
From my own experience, I'd suggest a Canon S90 (not sure you budget would stretch to an S95). It's a very serious compact offering full manual control, raw etc and an F/2 lens, albeit a zoom that get's slower at longer lengths. I've had mine for 18 months or so and I'm always impressed with it. It even has a decent stab at low light for a compact.
 
Thanks for the suggestions guys, nothing has really floated my boat apart from the canon g series so I may pick one up if I see a cheapie but think for time being I will get a trip 35 and some B+W dev equipment and get what i really want when I have the money which would be a Fuji x1-/20/100 :)
 
If you can get a Samsung EX1 that should fulfill your needs. Last time I saw one they were about £150 but that was 6 months ago and the EX2 has been released since then.

I use mine all the time when I want to travel light and it is a cracking little camera, f1.8 lens as well.

or get an old GF1 and 50mm lens
