Hi There

In need of a cheap 70-300 to take pics of my sons football match next weekend. Spent all my cash on a D200 hence budget lens needed.

Looking at either Nikon 70-300 3.5/5.6 G lens for about £79. Sigma 70-300 3.5/5.6 Macro for about the same or Sigma 70-300 Apo macro for about £129.

Personal recommendations appreciated.

p.s yes I know I should have spent the money on glass not body but couldn't resist the D200 (s/h):)

If you want really cheap and light think about the Tamron 70-300 (in my signature). Can be bought online for ~110 quid.
 
Another vote for the Sigma here, works lovely on my D200.

Certainly looking at Sigma 70-300 APO. Microglobe seem to offer good pricing. Any experience of them?
