It is beginning to work within days.....

I knew I would get some things wrong, the woody feeder is in shadow in the afternoon on one side,as the pants photo below shows, easy answer, drill holes on both sides of the feeder..............:bang:

Not much else about at the moment, but i`m sure other things will find the free grub.I hope that a few other people will benefit from this hide as well.

SO far i have suet block and balls out, black sunflower seeds, mixed seeds and a bit of nijer for the very few finches I see. Will add to the thread as things progress........

Thats a good start Ade. Give it a few weeks and you will be inundated. Like you said it will take time to sort out the best position for the feeders but keep it going. At least you will have a bit of comfort in this cold weather with the new hide.

Charlie's done a great job on the hide Ade, and you've obviously put a lot of time and thought into siting it, so no doubt we'll start to see the results of all this effort. All you have to do now is get the bastids sharp! :D

Yeah I know, I should process them more. TBH I made a right balls up and placed the woody feeder to far away, I had to put a TC on the 120-300 and I don`t like using tc`s. So i`ll move it closer to the hide after a week or two, once the bleeders have got used to it.

One thing for sure, I ain`t moving the hide, it weighs a bleeding ton............:D

Charlie made the hide and would take nothing for it, so I have sited so that others less fortunate than I can make use of it. Kinda repaying Charlies generosity in strange kinda way. It is on the non-shooting estate I talk about, the owner regularly lets local schools have field trips and things on his land, so hopefully it will get plenty of use.I`m trying to set it all up so that 300mm will be enough focal length,I know that some can`t afford or don`t want too spend on longer lenses, so that is why i`m going for the 300mm option.

Kingfisher hide on the other place is being moved for the same reason as well.

Soiunds great! I've thought about setting up a hide and some feeders on a remote part of Cannock Chase. The chances of the hide staying in one piece for long might be even more remote though. :D

Moved the woody feeder this afternoon, lot closer now. Just sat and watched from about 20 meters away, not much visited though, maybe needs more time.......

Did see a pair of buzzards,a kestrel and a male sparrowhawk did a fly by late on...........:)

Hello Ade just back from the wilds of Glen Feshie. Had to take the snow off the windscreen before I set off!
First thing I did was check on my hide when I got back, two reds running around my feet!
In time you will get your GSW perch in to about 8ft with no probs.
Good to hear your hide is to get some use from others.

Is that 20 metres from te hide Ade? That's a long way even for long glass! I've had Great Spotteds down at a place where they're regularly fed as close as about 10 feet, perhaps a little less, and that's with me standing out in the open watching them for ages, and they seem totally unconcerned by the shutter noise.

No, the woody feeder is about 2 meters from the hide now. I was about 20 meters away from the hide sat in some bushes, just watching for any activity............

Sounds great then Fraccers!

I certainly wouldn`t hold your breath...............:D
