Evening,
My father in law has asked if I can help getting a website and some social media stuff together for the Rotary club he belongs to. I'm ok with the Twitter/Facebook bits but can anyone recommend a decent website design and hosting package? Preferably free (I think TSOhost do one for charities) or good value.
Doesn't need to be fancy just a basic web site that can link to social media.

Thank you [emoji106]

Hi Phil,

i can help with everything :) website and the hosting. can you tell me exact requirements (pages needed to be there and functionality)? I am using OctoberCMS (built on php Laravel) or php/html/css and Opencart for e-commerce as it's a lot faster than wordpress

don't mind helping charities :)

Perhaps Wordpress might work for you, there are plenty of themes available, both free and paid for - Generally the paid for ones come with slightly better back ends for ease of use, and better instructions for use, although there are some very good free ones out there too! It's fairly painless to install, assuming the hosting is sufficient

A few helpful links:

Wordpress download: here & instructions here

Theme options: Free Themes & Paid for Themes

You can also get plugins to make things easier, for things like Contact forms etc, again, some free, some paid for - I'll only include free ones here as there is usually something available in there!

Free Plugins

Otherwise, there are options available from Wix, Weebly etc who all do free website builders, although as far as I am aware none of them offer the scope or number of options that Wordpress offer :)

HTH!

If it is a registered charity I might be able to help and have some free server space for hosting, domain name and build/config of the site.

Is it a registered charity? And which region is it based as a face to face may be best to get things sorted.

Thanks very much guys. I had a meeting with the guy who runs the current website and we agreed it needs simplifying and updating. I think, for now at least we will try and stay with what we have and redesign around that, but if it's ok I may get in touch with @dejongj and @asaspasas6 if I get stuck ;)

Good luck with it! Any time if you have a question.
