Hello everone!

Did a quick search sorry if this has been done to death...

Just wondered if anyone has any good finds from an Charity Shops? I know a few people that regularly shop there (not camera related) and absolutely RAVE about them! Just wondered if any good photography finds have come out of them? :D:D

i collect old cameras and i quite often find them in charity shops. I found an old Brownie for 50p before!

Excellent!

This is the stuff I was hoping for... I was kinda wondering if I would pick up and old SLR in there just to mess about with :cuckoo:

BOOKS on photography believe me I need as many as I can get :lol:

If you look on e-bay for the British Heart Foundation shop you'll find they have loads of 35mm slr cameras which can go for as little as a fiver.

heheh - got an 1982 early edition hardback by Michael Freeman ....£1

the B+W are stunning and the methods are still relevant

seeing the early Nikons he used - why do we need all this new technology now to produce 95% crap images ...

I bought last year for a huge sum of £4 Volume one wildlife photographer of the year. They go on ebay for a lot more. (£200-£400)
I felt a bit bad when i got home, so the following week i donated loads of unwanted items from home, but kept quiet about the book:D

OK, it's not photo related, but when I was invited to a black tie dinner, I bought a dinner suit and dress shirt (both of which would have passed for brand new) from Oxfam for £15 - considerably less than it would have cost me to hire one for the night!

I got my Polaroid Impulse Portrait camera from a British Heart Foundation charity shop for £4 last year!

Unfortunately it is now gathering dust as the film is not available any more (apart from out of date ones at silly prices on eBay)

I'll probably check out a few more charity shops to see if they have any old film cameras/SLR's or anything interesting in.
