Subject to authorisation from 'Higher' - i.e. MoD in London, the Lovely Ladies of Task Force Helmand propose to do a 'naughty-but-nice' calendar in support of Breast-Cancer Awareness...Lead-time for Xmas is tight, but we think we can get the damn thing to Press in time - just...

I've got some test-shots in the bag and I reckon we can get the rest done and back to the printer (cheers, Mate - no pressure) by 17th December...
Naturally I've been tasked with a three-week 'Away-Mission' starting Tuesday, just to make life complicated - after three weeks of relative inactivity...lol

Is there anyone here with marketing experience or have a friend or friend-of-a-friend who could help out with getting these things out and about in the UK?
We can do the in-theatre stuff ourselves - proposed prices will be $15 for here and £10 for UK - all profits going to Breast Cancer Charity in the UK...

Contact the Sun Newspaper they love anything to with tits and the army at the moment.

This is a serious reply by the way.

The Sun could do wonders for you.

There's short notice - and there's what the Army do. Some things never change. There are people who do this professionally who are, right now, planning the 2011 calendar.

It really should be for sale right now but I'm sure you know that. It needs some serious fast-tracking which is what you're asking for and I wish I could help. If only it were calendar mousemats - I've just had two boxes delivered after a three day turnaround. Amazing.

Good luck with this project. Maybe the Sun could be the answer.

Get in touch with the press office at breast cancer and see if they can help.
Sounds a bit late to hit the Christmas market but good luck.

Get in touch with a company called Calendar CLub in Exeter. They run all the shops that appear at this time of year in shopping centres up and down the land flogging calendars and diaries etc. My In-Laws run the 2 in Manchesters Arndale centre. If you can get stock to them, they will either distribute to the shops or stock on line. But you will have to act really fast. Like super fast.

Cheers chaps and cha-esses...
lol - the ultra-short lead-time was kinda mentioned when I first had this idea presented to me on Thursday...lol

We should be able to get a good few of the shots done on Monday, as I've finally found a venue within the Camp that won't attract hordes of onlookers...lol

We're having another meeting on Monday morning as it seems all the girls want to be included rather than the dozen or so we started out with...

It's shaping-up into an interesting Tour...lol

I've managed to convince the girls to go for a minimalist B&W High-Key - 'Street-Togger' style set of images of the sort we've been seeing a lot of lately: 50mm fixed lens and plain background (desert-DPM poncho as opposed to white bedsheet) - natural light with a diffuser, maybe a bit of off-camera fill if I really have to...

Can you believe I'm up tonight fashioning Daisy-Duke style DPM cut-off Hot-Pants from my old pairs of Telic-1-era combat trousers...? Nope, I can't either...lol

when you say 'all' does that include the typical RLC driver females we see in Gutersloh?
if so you are on to a losing battle mate!!

Some are sleeker than others, it has to be said. However, it's my job to make them all beautiful...and I will...

To be honest, not all of them are merely 'Theatre-Attractive' - some are better-looking than a lot of the models I see gracing our Nudes and Glamour pages...

The greatest challenge is getting a private venue and getting them all together around work schedules...
And produce a suitably original set of images that will not only be flattering to the sitters but have a broader appeal to the general public...

TBH, I'm slightly anxious about this...Thank God I have two weeks of bullets and IEDs to calm me down before work starts in earnest... that stuff I can do in my sleep almost...
A few TFCD shoots is all well and good as they're always just for my own amusement...I have to do these girls and the intent behind the shoot justice...

You'll see soon enough...

Mate, what you wear in your own time is up to you, but someone in the camp is gonna comment....................

Haha fantastic. Good luck with it mate. What job do you do in the forces btw Arkady? I'm guessing you're an RAF photographer or Army?

nothing like a challenge mate, expect you to nail this one like you have everything I've seen posted on here :D

RAF...?????? :|

RAF...?

Bloody Crabs...should be Privatised with immediate effect...:D

lol...Army - 16 years Infantry and then transferred to this House Of Fools in 2002...

Haha, I knew you'd give me stick if I got it wrong! Combat photographer now then?

:D Sounds exciting!

I could see this calendar selling in the thousands given every redtop's obsession with 'our troops', tits and Xmas. . . If it was for sale now.
I Doubt it'll make a huge impact at this late stage though and would maybe even seem stale by the next festive marketing campaign.
Xmas is nearly over here and the Easter eggs are in the shops now :D

good luck arkady....
so cameras, guns, soldiers, and now semi naked but highly competent action ladies to take pictures of???

when do you get your next promotion?? to the rank of James Bond???

Has someone approached The Sun?

TBH I think the only way that you'll get sucess, this late in the game, would be getting the media involved and The Sun or BBC would be my best bet.

Good luck!

Yep - we're on the case...

As I'd half-suspected might happen, it's been ****-canned by the heirachy here in Theatre...
See other thread on the subject...
