My sister once persuaded a cold calling chap peddling some fancy carpet-cleaning gear (for £3300, I might add ) to clean her house for 'demonstration purposes' before telling him where to sling his hook. His opening line of "Do you want your children to be ill because your carpets are filthy?" probably didn't help

that was pretty good I remember his last series when he crept up on people and clanged symbals behind them, priceless
