Changing image size on GIMP...

Hmmmm strange, I don't seem to have that option :(

When I click on Image, then Scale is about half way down the list. Are you sure it's not there?

Yep Image, Scale
What version of Gimp are you using?

gimp 2.6 here too.

Perhaps you could show us an screenshot of what you see when you click Image-->Image Properties

Are you getting this problem on one type of file (eg tiff, jpg, gif) or all files?

The above is in 2.6.
Bottom of second area down is Scale image.

Cool I think I have found it... in my old software the size of my image was 36.21 by 26 or summet like that and I used to crop images and then just enlarge back to the original size.... but I can't just put in the original figures?? hmmmm... its pixals??

Thanks for the help, this software is alian to me :)

You can resize to other units than pixels by clicking on the box saying pixels and choosing something like inches, mm, percent etc

As software goes graphics programs can take a bit of learning. Don't panic, even geeks like me struggle with programs as complex as these initially :)

When you click on Scale Image (like in your screenshot) you will get something like this:

- note that this example is 3032 pixels wide by 2016 across.

Also, see that my example is 72 pixels per inch. If you divide 3032 by 72 you get 42.11, so when I click on "pixels" and choose "inches", it says that the image is 42.11 inches - see screenshot below:

Note that I haven't changed the image size at this point - I've only changed the unit of measurement from pixels to inches. The image will only change size when I put a value into the width or the height boxes.

The same principle will apply to you.

There is help on the web too, eg http://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-image-scale.html and http://www.squidoo.com/gimp-resize-pictures - and there are usually videos on the likes of youtube for various gimp tasks.

Hope that helps some. As almost_invisible says, graphics programs can take a bit of learning. But it will get easier!

Thank you soooooooooooooo much, it must be inches that my original size is in as it's 36.31 :)

I will have a go tomorrow!!

:D :) :D

Aaaaaargh I am getting annoyed now... this software is ******. I ant my pixal size to be the safe as before after cropping... which was 4288 x 2848, but wont allow me to do it, when I change either of he sections it automatically changes the other and I can't get the sizes I wsant :(

Worked it out... now calm... U have to break the chain..

Wait til you copy something to a new layer and get a 'floating section'.
Took me an age to work out how to get around that.
I still hit snags, like a selection being immune to anything I want to do. Even now I sometimes just save it and reopen it because it's faster than working out what I did this time :cuckoo:
