Chance Meeting.

I bumped into a chap the other day at a local shopping mall showing some of his raptor birds to the public. He runs falconry courses on a commercial basis it transpired. We got chatting and I referred him to my web site.

I just had an e-mail from him asking if I'd take some shots for his advertising literature, in return for some free falconry/ hawking tuition and actually flying the birds. That suits me just fine - I don't know which is the more exciting, the photo opportunity or actually handling the birds.

He! he! ... seriously though, that sounds fantastic... nice bit of business and a chance to get up close and personal with some real beauties.

LOL. I think he's from Cheshire, that's where he runs hs courses anyway. Well I'll be needing better light than we get this time of year for the action shots I have in mind, but thankfully neither of us are in any rush.

Really looking forward to seeing the shots when it happens.
I enjoyed trying to snap the birds at the Game fair I went to a few months ago.
Alas I didnt have the 70-200mm then & so my flight shots were pretty pathetic.

He's a guy in his 50's I suppose. Very interesting guy to talk to actually. He'll tell you he spent the first 40 years of his life chasing money before he wised up. He got into the raptors when he nursed a badly smashed up Buzzard back to health. He still has the bird and flies it regularly.

He's now totally committed to what he does and seems very content to just make a living doing something he loves. There's a moral there I'm sure.
