Can anyone clear this up for me. I understand that due to Data Co ruling we are not allowed to put up photographs from the Premier League and Football League on our own websites without permission.

We are however allowed International matches as this is not covered by Data Co. I shoot alot of high level football and I am wanting to display these on my website. I have seen on other Pro Photographers Websites that they have on there Champions League photos as they have told me this is not covered by Data Co and therefore you are allowed to put these up on your website. Is this correct as have seen loads of websites with this on there.

Also if you are allowed. I was photographing the Emirates Cup this weekend both days. Apparently as it has nothing to do with Data Co either, I am allowed to display the images on my website.

Can anyone please justify this as hard to put up a website displaying your work when the football you shoot is of a high standard which you cant show.

Oooooh, let me see if I can dig out an email from DataCo...I'm pretty sure it concurs with what you've suggested.

Failing that, give them a ring...I'll PM you some details.

Just dont try and sell any pictures from the website of players with an england badge on.. Also any games played on a prem or league ground is covered by dataco no matter who the teams are.

Not planning on selling any images on website Kipax. Just curious all aspects of Premier League Football is not allowed on websites yet you have photographs clearly on your website of Womens Premier League teams such as Blackburn and Everton. Surely this isn't allowed as Data Co doesn't just say Male teams aren't allowed suggesting Womens teams count to.

This whole idea of Data Co not letting us use images is silly as some of us who are full time sports photographers want people to see our work and we cant.

Womens football isn't covered by DataCo ...yet.. in fact theres no licence system at all.. However in the summer of 2011 a new womens superleague starts which is being covered by dodgy TV.. I fully expect a media licence system to be in place by then...

I agree.... I ahve a lot of premiership and championship football pics that will never be seen by anyone :(

Does that mean they'll be swapping shirts at the end of the games?
