Folks, I could do with a little help. My adorable other half has set me a challenge to take her on a day out somewhere she's never been before. Sounds easy enough until you take into account:

1. It needs to be within (approx) a 30 mile radius of Maidenhead.
2. She's lived all her life in and around the west london/thames valley/M4 area.
3. She's a very active lady and has visited most well known and even some lesser known places.
4. Her career involves development planning and therefore she has intense local knowledge of all kinds of tucked away places etc.

She loves country walks, exploring, and events such as open gardens, concerts, classic car runs. My local knowledge is nowhere near as extensive as hers as I've only known the area for a few years. So i'm looking for tips from local togs who have discovered off the beaten track places which they like to share, perhaps with a photo too. :)

All (clean) suggestions welcome!

This takes me back...well before my days with a decent camera...

Burnham Beeches
River Thames@Marlow and/or Henley
Wycombe Heights (Red Kite country)
Visit Cookham and the Stanley Spencer museum
Stoke Poges
Windsor Great Park and/or Eton

Depending on when, there's always Ascot or Windsor horse racing - you just missed Royal Ascot though! ;-)

Howabout a concert at Kenwood? just about on the edge of your travel limit but its a lovely venue! And on a nice warm evening with a picnic its superb!

to that special place that happens at the end of sex which i cannot say here due to it being a family board :)

macdonalds?
Dogging lay-by?
women dont know how far a mile is so why not venture a little further?

Either a helicopter ride or a trip in a hot air balloon. Unless she's done that before that is!

Great idea. T'is her birthday soon and a hot air balloon ride over the Chilterns might be viable providing I get her past her fear of heights. I'd certainly love it...

Whichever option you go with, please update us with how it went :); and a happy birthday to her - in advance.

What about a camera shop so you can buy some kit?!!!

Cholsey & Wallingford Railway
Didcot Railway Centre

Well you wouldn't expect to suggest anything else would you?
