When I moved about 3.5 years ago, I bought an (Ikea) big sofa and chairs that suited the style and decor of the room. It all looks great I think, very modern and I can't grumble about the quality, very good again. Trouble is, I find it bloody uncomfortable!

The depth of the seat and low back seems conducive to sprawling about, almost lying down and makes getting up sometimes a bit difficult, well... not exactly difficult but I'm not ready for one of those spring loaded chairs just yet!

I want a chair that's comfy for watching telly for a few hours in the evening but doesn't look too bad, some sort of recliner I guess, any suggestions?

Wife's complaining of the same with ours after complaining about the last one which was all recliners.

I fancy the chair and stool type for me and she can have a settee.

If possible, visit a few shops and try the sofas/chairs for comfort. IMO, how it looks would be the last thing that mattered!

I have a similar chair in the corner of myhome office which has that kind of fit, it has a long front which makes it difficult to sit in without it getting the back of your knees.
downstairs in the rear lounge we have electric recliners which are ace.

Have heard the same issues from many people, cost of the item seems irrelevant. I think we don't like to sit in these things long enough to really test them out in the shop.

I inherited a sofa from my parents house, loud pattern, bit dated design. I have covered it in throws as its always been wonderful to sit on and relax on. i cant see I will find a better one physically and after hearing lots of people having real problem with ones they have bought, I sort of dread the time when it might have to be replaced - hopefully not for years yet, as it nestles discreetly beneath its new covers.
