Wow Ess, just returned from holiday and saw this thread - glad to see that John is on the mend and look forward to see him back posting again.

Hi Ess.

I don't know John, other than by (user) name!
And only just came across this thread.

Just wanted to say that I hope he get's well soon, and wish him (and you) my best wishes.

Regards, Andy

I've been to see John today and the improvement is remarkable!! He's fully awake now, but does tire easily. His co-ordination isn't great at the moment, but all his sats are good etc. He is sitting up in a special chair for a little while at the moment, and he should, fingers crossed, be having the trachy tube removed tomorrow. All being well, the kids will be able to see him possibly Tuesday.

Right, off to continue painting, got to get it done so all the fumes go before he comes home.

Ess. x

Fantastic news, really pleased

I can imagine the kids will be so excited to be able to see him after nearly 2 weeks.

That's great news Ess ,it will be a weight off your mind seeing him up for a bitand bet the kids are really looking forward to seeing their dad. You take care and give him our love Pete and Eileen

Ess, I've just come across this and wish John all the best. It sounds like you've all been through the mill recently, so here's wishing him a full and speedy recovery.

Ess,
If you let me know what ward John is on I'll go and visit him. We know each other from Blackburn camera club.

Hi, at the moment John is still on critical care... he is able to speak now, and he's eating by himself now as opposed to through a tube. He will be moved to a ward tomorrow, I think it'll either be C6 or C8, he's gonna confirm it tomorrow.

I took his phone to him yesterday so he'll be back annoying you all in no time!

Kids are going to see him tomorrow night, I didn't want to take them to Critical Care unit, there are some not-very-pretty sights up there - then of course there's John :D (OJ John!).

Thanks again for all your well wishes :)

Ess. x

Take that phone back off him Ess... ...do all the Twits a big favour... :naughty:

OJ too John... ;)

...probably... :D

Hi all...

John's just rung me (because he can - hooray!!!!), he's just been moved out of critical care onto ward C6 for those of you who mentioned that you'd like to go to visit him. It's on floor 3. The visiting times are 2-4 and 6-8. I'll be there for the later one.

The only medication/assistance John is having now is oxygen through a nasal cannula, and the odd nebuliser. A far cry from 2 weeks ago when we played count the drip and got to the grand total of 9!!!

Thanks again everyone for all your support, it means a lot.

Ess, John, Jadey and Joe

By the way... we took a card in for the staff on Critical Care last night - Jadey wrote
'thank you so much for saving my daddy's life'... What a little sweetie :)

Fantastic news Ess!

Can't wait to see him back on tp fighting fit

Thats brilliant news Ess..he'll soon be back under your feet

Excellent Ess, I'm working during visiting times till Monday but will pop in then to see him. Hope the magazine kept him busy. Have they given any idea on how long before he is actually up and about. (and has John been suitably threatened re ignoring their advice about climbing mountains and doing marathons!)

Is he doing OK for reading material and things to do? I have a pile of photography magazines he's welcome to. It's no laptop, granted, but it's certainly something to read :)

I'd love to visit and take him an iPad.

No... wait.....

Get well soon mate.

From another John
