Only just spotted this (...so much to read on here) :bonk:
Best Wishes for a full recovery

Today's installment...

Well... he's completely off the ventilator and sedation, he's breathing for himself and his sats look good so far. They've given him a 'sticky bed' which he absolutely hated last time so no doubt he'll be a right cantankerous old get pretty soon. It's one where the feet are elevated so he can't move about so easily, or he'll get too active and start pulling lines and tubes and obviously we don't want that.
He has started opening his eyes and reacts to voices, inparticular mine, when I said if he didn't hurry up and get out of there I was gonna put his D300 on ebay.

I'm going to print out all your messages as soon as the inks in the printer and take them in and read them to him, he'll be stoked by all your messages.

Loads of love
Ess, Jadey, Joe and a very drowsy John xxxx

Awesome news Ess.

I think you will have lots of bids on the D300 if it means he will be out of that bed faster

Keep us updated

That is really good news Ess. Hoping for continued recovery and the all clear to get back to home comforts soon, plus the hospital internet is really limiting! :)

Tell him my bid of £30 still stands :)

 Darren!

Card is all done and waiting for the postman. Put an extra few bits in for you Ess and J&J.

All the very best wishes to John.

Good to hear John is on the mend. Hope he's soon feeling really groovy again!

And today's news...

Well... he definately hasn't lost his personality. The nurse tried to give him medicine, he spat it out. She tried to put his eye drops in, he screwed his eyes up and shook his head. That's the John I know! :) He is getting frustrated as he can't speak because of the trachy, but his breathing is good. He has a temperature as he has some sort of infection, we're waiting for test results so it can be treated, but apart from that things seem to be going according to plan.

I took the card in today, he was still very sleepy but he did take notice and gave a tiny smile, so I've left it in his room for when he's more aware.

The kids absolutely adore their new toys, and me... I'm off to scoff some chocs. Thank you all, you're amazing people. :o)

Loads and loads of love
Ess, John, Jadey and Joe xxxx

Great stuff that he's improving so well so fast!
While he can't talk, you might want to think about flash cards (images and words) for common things that John may want, eg, a pic of you, a pic of your children, a pic of a nurse, a pic symbolising pain, just so that it's not so frustrating for him trying to communicate (someone that I'm very close to used such flashcards when he had a trackie in, I think he had both cards and 2 or 3 sheets of A4 paper with them all on too, made things alot easier for him at the time). xx

Brilliant news Ess... and thank you so much for taking the time to update this motley crew known as TP... :naughty: ...

I am sure we all feel the pain when one of us is none too clever and it is real good to be updated so regularly with the good progress being made...

Take care of you and the kids and keep putting John back a stage by telling John he is in all our thoughts each time you see him... ...that'll keep him begging the nurses for more medicine and eye drops to keep him safely tucked up... :D

Best wishes to the three of you too... ;)

Ven... :p

Just seen this as i have not been on the forum much this week.

I don't know John but i would like to add my best wishes and i hope that the recovery continues a pace.

I also hope that you are feeling OK Ess; i know how stressful times like this are so please take care of yourself and try to find time to relax a little.

Kind regards,

Tracey, xxx

Great news. Glad to hear the progress continues.

Best wishes to all,
Ken

Can I first say a huge thank you to Darren for coming to visit John today, it was a huge boost for John, it was lovely to see him smile (John that is! :D )

There has been massive improvement in the last 24 hours... John seems to be getting over the infection whatever it was, his temperature has come right down and he is more aware. His breathing and coughing reflex is getting stronger and they have said that if he continues to improve at this rate then they'll look to remove the trachy tube in a couple of days.

Thanks again for all your lovely messages...

Ess. x

That's very good news indeed.:) I hope his recovery continues to go well and that you and the children are well too.

I think he was impressed with Marcel's threat of being banned if he is not up and about soon. He seemed quite amused at the prospect of being pushed round Blackpool zoo in a hospital bed too but he is a bit picky about which ice cubes

Thanks for the update Ess. So glad to hear he's making such good progress

:agree: thanks for the update and so glad to hear more progress.

Tell him to keep the improvements coming. :)

so glad he's getting better by the day and thanks for keeping us updated
