CGeezer

Again peeps thanks for your wishes. He was seen by the consultant today and they are treating him for pneumonia and he may have to have a trachy tube fitted for the short term. He's back under heavy sedation for the time being. It's a bit of a roller coaster at the moment but all your kind wishes are keeping us positive...

When is the Blackpool Zoo meet? I might just come along and see if they'd like to take the kids off our hands :oP

Get well soon John, hope you have a full and speedy recovery.

Glad he's getting treatment. At least with a diagnosis there is a plan of treatment.

All the best wishes for a speedy recovery and love and prayers to all of you.

I've only just found out! Speaking to Ess on facebook.......

I’ve been through this myself with a loved one. It was very scary at the time, but I had great trust in the logic of their treatment. The ventilation machine will do all the hard breathing work for him and their techniques with the drugs mixtures will look after his mind and body while he rests.

I do hope you begin to feel the same way, or near to it. My ex recovered fully, they really do know how to deal with this problem.

Bering very positive here, can't see no reason not too  ...all the best to you all.
Speedy recovery I hope.

Wishing you all the very best for a full recovery. Take care.

Hi all...

It's been a very stressful day at the hospital today. When I got there, the nurse told me they'd decided at last minute that they were going to perform a tracheotomy this afternoon. A doctor came in and explained it all to me including the risks as he has had several broncial spasms in the last few days. I went out of the unit to make phone calls and arrange childcare for the kids as I wanted to be there when it had been done, to see that he was ok.

When we were allowed in, we were waiting with baited breath, and his ventilation was very erratic. As it happens, not long after the trachy was performed he started breathing for himself so they decreased the ventilation gradually and now he is breathing on his own without ventilation though he is still being given oxygen and nebulisers through the trachy tube.

Soooo... a massive positive step today, tomorrow he should be awake as they have taken him off sedation, so I am going to get the kids to record messages for him so I can play them to him tomorrow which will give him a massive boost.

Thanks sooo much for all your really lovely messages, I never realised the miserable old get was so popular! :P

Lots of love and thank yous

Ess, Jadeylady and Joe xxx

(AKA - Ven... :p )

Good to hear todays developments Ess. You just tell him that if he doesn't shape himself PDQ, I am confiscating his camera and giving it to a Canon owner! :naughty: ;) Oh yes, and a Great Big HUG for you too, life much be hell atm. Thinking of all of you.

Sorry for the lateness, but wishing you all best wishes and a speedy recovery, from a fellow asthmatic, I know how bad it gets. Me not liking any sense of attention often leaves me stubborn and not wanting to seek help (and attention) but now I find it better to be safe than sorry. Glad John's receiving good care and attention.

Only just seen this, please send John my best wishes and give Jadey a hug too!

Sorry to here about John , our thoughts are with you all at this difficult time, wish him a speedy recovery .

So sorry to hear this hun. Thinking of you all and wishing John a speedy recovery. xxxx

Remember he can still hear when he's sedated, so keep talking to him and maybe even play him some music, someone very close to me was in a coma for 6 weeks and he can resite conversations that were had over his bedside.

Glad to here of the improvement. Love and best wishes to you all for a return to normal soon.

Ken
