Hi,

The little bit of plastic that you push in to eject the compact flash card on my 400d has been jammed in for ages. I'm not normally worried about it as I just download after each shoot. But soon I'm going to Austraillia and won't get the chance to download so I'll have to be changing cards.

I can't quite grip the card hard enough to pull it out un-aided, I can take it out by gently pulling it with a pair of long nose pliers, this is obiously not ideal.

Is this a common issue and is there an easy fix or anything to check to get it to work again. If not can somebody recommend me a repair centre.

Thanks

Card isn't jammed that will go in and out. Just the button stuck down.

Well.. if it all still works fine and you don't want to get it repaired, I'd buy the biggest CF card you can afford and leave it in MHO. :)

Yeh I'd do that but I'm going away to austrailia for a month, So expect I'll be filling up lots of cards : )

A little word of advice...

If you can't get this fixed and decide to use the pliers on your trip - dont put them in your hand luggage :bonk:

yeah, I was thinking, may be a subtle hint for an upgrade?:naughty: Or, perhaps ask Canon for a quote?

Yeh I realise this lol.

Upgrade would be nice, But I have loads to pay for before the trip. Got to get an underwater case for my Ixus 960 (4 days diving on the GBR ) and upgrade my standard lens, probably get a Sigma 17-70.

Beware that the 400D can have an issue where the pins bend on the cf slot if the card is slightly misaligned.

It cost me £170 for a new mainboard!
