Hey Guys and Gals,

Just looking for some advice on CF cards. I’m looking for a fast read/write card for a Canon 7D. I’m planning on getting back into wildlife photography so speed is important.

Thank you

Chris

I’m shooting with sandisk extreme, up to 120mb/s with Canon 1dx2 and Canon 5dm4 - no problems keeping up (until buffer fills for 5D)

I have used Sandisk Ultra, Extreme and Extreme Pro in my 7D. I would be hard pushed to see any difference between the Extreme and the pro, the extra read speed of the Pro is nice if you are trying to do quick file transfers for things like sports but unless you are on very tight deadlines you probably wont see much benefit for the extra cost of the Pro . Both are miles ahead of the Sandisk Ultra but the ultra does make for some relatively cheap backup cards.

We have SanDisk 32Gb Extreme cards in my wifes 7D which she often uses for wildlife, not had an issue with any of them

My 7D2 is set to 9 fps and even my Sandisk (95mbps?) SD card gives 30 ish frames and clears fairly quickly. My Lexar 1000x CF 32GB cards give more frames an clear very quickly!

You should be fine on anything above 60Mbps, unless you are absolutely caning it.

I use Extreme and also found a very fast Samsung card about four years ago that is very good.
