Now I'm just discovering the benefits of shooting RAW, I need to get myself some more CF cards. Any recommendations as to which are more popular/ which to avoid etc? At present I have 2 x 256mb, so obviously need to get more memory.

Your expertise would be very much appreciated :thumb:
 
Scandisk Ultra II are widely accepted to be very good.

Only the top end cameras will need the speed of the Scandisk Extreme III cards

I have a couple of integral i-pro 2gig cards
Never lost an image, don't suffer from buffer lock outs either and the best bit is, they are a damn sight cheaper than the sandisk ultra/extreme cards

My 20D can't read or write the files as quick as the card can take the info.

that price is vat inclusive too, they quite often have deals on the postage.....free or ½ cost, so keep an eye on them.
 
I mostly use 2 1GB Lexar Cards. I have 4 256mb SanDisk CF Cards and 1 256mb ultra II SanDisk Card, which are rarely used. But what I do is transfer the photos from the 1GB Cards onto my Archos AV400 (expensive gadget, but well worth the money.) It has a 80GB hard drive and I've found it uploads to the computer faster than a usb to the camera. The battery life is rather good and it will play MP3's and MP4's during those boring moments.
 
Lexar Pro Cards (80x write speed) or the new Sandisk Extreme III (123x write speed).

Whereabouts in Sunny Aldershot are you? I'm in North Lane.
 
Kingston Ultra 1gig (The blue one).
Never had a problem with it yet.
 
Another integral user, they've all worked faultlessly since purchasing.
3x 2gig, 1x 1gig.

Cool - so much for all the snow we were promised - bloody drizzle here.

I'll see you out and about on the training areas then? Nothing to photograph in town - it's the dullest, most uninspiring place I've ever seen.

I use a Sandisk 2gig card too :)

That i-Pro one Ian suggests looks a good price :)
 
Well, based upon the advice given, I've taken the plunge and gone for a 1GB Integral i-Pro card :)

Don't know if anyone here has used them before, but Mouse2House seem quite reasonable with FREE postage :thumb:

Sounds about right for a card-write speed like that.
I have to use the fastest cards available due to the nature of the work I do - can't be doing waiting for images to write to the card (not that I often get a full buffer whilst shooting).
And since I don't pay for them myself...:laugh1:

Yep, but if fellow Photographers use Canon make sure you update the Lexar firmware on the older cards otherwise you will lose photos. Alternatively make sure you buy the newer cards with the red dot (I think it's red - your supplier should know)
