Just purchased a very low milage D300 to work along side my D80 and just realised it takes a CF card, unlike my D80 which takes SD.....
Anyone advise the best place to purchase CF Cards and recomendation of which one, such as extreme II etc ..

Thanks.

Don't buy one off eBay -loads of fakes on there!

Try 7dayshop, or possibly Amazon (they were cheapest for my 16Gb Extreme SD card which is in the post hopefully!)

Premier Ink are very reasonable too. Also do batteries on the cheap incase you want a spare.

I try to stick soley to Sandisk and have never had any problems at all, they're also really fast.

MyMemory, Play.com, Sandisk, Transcend. Speed not too vital unless you are shooting sports or some other rapid action stuff.

Thanks for all the recommendations. ebay is certainly a no no.

Made another search and found picstop to be among the cheapest.
4 gb sandisk Extreme III £ 15.99...

Always used Sandisk never no probs will keep to them.

Well Rocket, I would have suggested Picstop too. They and Amazon always appear to be the best for Sandisk.

I am sure the other well known brands are reliable, but TBH I stick with what I have found reliable and works for me without any problems, thats Sandisk.

8GB Extreme CF card prices today:

Amazon £37.18
Play.com £39.99
7Day Shop £43.99
Picstop £47.99

All including delivery

I've found Amazon to have the best prices for CF cards by which I mean SanDisck Extreme III. However in the past week the 4Gb versions have jumped fro £17.99 to anything in the region of £28!!!

Seasonal rush perhaps?

Did you know that the new Sandisk Ultra II's are rated the same (30Mbs) as the old Extreme III's that are for sale at £28 ?? The Ultra II's are £13.50 for exactly the same speed ;)

No I didn't. Thanks for the headsup. Wonder what the extra £14.50 buys you?

IIRC it buys you the extreme temperature range that they are guaranteed to work at.

Watch for Sandisk fakes on Amazon too.. they're everywhere..

Except that the Ultra 2 is UDMA and the Extreme 3 is not, so the Ultra 2 is faster, and will unload to your PC quicker.
