Hi, i just wanted to ask is there any CF card reader for an ipad and what is the best software for photo editing + to add caption.. Is there any press photographer here? Hope u dont nind to share... Thanks :)

Hi Azi, welcome to TP

Getting CF cards to work on an ipad can be tricky as they tend to draw too much power, so it's very much a case of trawling the internet to see if you can find reports of a device that works with your model of ipad. It would appear that some of the devices that would work on ipad2 won't work on ipad 3 and vice versa.

Re. captioning the image prior to uploading, i'm pretty sure that iPhoto can do it via the edit option on the image in question.

I got an apple one off eBay £20 and works a treat with my ip3 just eBay "apple cf card reader"

Digital Failure: Hmm, is it possible to edit high res photo in ipad 1 too? Because mine is ipad 1... Still newbie in macintosh .. Btw, thanks for your info ;)

Hi stumac, thanks for the info.. How does it works? I need to know if it smooth run during editing process..

Captioning etc is fine on an iPad, I use Photosmith and then metadata back to Lightroom, but I wouldn't use an iPad for editing, due to the small screen & less precise controls.

I haven't done that much with it.... It's just a card reader that plugs into the iPad, then you can attach iPad to pc to download images later also the pad will read raw files ... That's all I've used it for.... It's a good way to backup when on the move

Craikeybaby: hmm, have u tried to edit photos using ipad before?

Yes, using Snapseed, it's fine for snapshots, but would want to reprocess anything serious in Lightroom/Photoshop.

I was putting 5d mk2 large Raws on it with no viewing problems

Most of the raw file readers read the embedded JPEG and use that for display. There are only a few that allow you to actually see the raw data...

I'm interestred in just storing my RAW files on a 64Gb Ipad 2 when I shooting out of the country as a backup. Is it easy enough to do with a card reader?

Yes. Providing you have the space free.
