Hi, I have just purchased via amazon a Lexar pro 800x 32gb card ,I have used it today for the first time to upload images, however every so often the upload just hangs and I have to cancel and restart , their was over 1000 images to upload from all week, I am probably answering my own question but should I send this back or am I doing something wrong as I have only uploaded a couple of hundred images normally from 4 or 8 gig cards .Any advice would be appreciated .Thanks

are they RAW files, just a guess but im wondering if its a computer issue rather than the card. Maybe overloading the RAM on your PC due to the amount and size of the image files..

dumb question - are you sure it is the card ?

Do you have another card you can do the same test with ? 32gb

i'm also going to assume that it put the pictures onto the card in the camera fine ?

Hi, thanks for the reply,i doubt it as I usually upload my 8 gig Lexar with raw files with a couple of hundred images without problem, the first attempt with the new card stopped at 40 ,then at 250 and so on .

I take it you used a card reader? If you still have the USB cable, what happens if you connect camera directly to computer and upload that way? Have heard of this kind of thing happening with card readers that are starting to fail, so worth trying the direct connection route [or of course, vice versa if you normally connect directly, try the card in a reader instead]

Hi, Are you uploading via software like Lightroom?
If not have you tried just using the drag and drop from card to a folder

Direct transfer from camera,my card reader is so slow.

In that case, have you tried via a card reader? Have you tried another computer or cable? If nothing seems to work as it should but other cards work as expected, send it back. If for no other reason than peace of mind. You'll probably always worry about that card whenever you use it. I know it's personal choice but I use smaller cards just in case one cr@ps out on me - fewer shots lost...

I had a similar experience, when trying to copy from CF (Sandisk Extreme 16GB 60MB/s) to PC via USB cable to camera. In fact it happened originally using my wife's Windows 7 laptop, then the same with my Windows 8 PC.

got a nice i-mac here den going cheap .and get yourself a lexar card reader they work fast usb 3 are best

Something like this will suffice... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lexar-Professional-500MB-Dual-Reader/dp/B004P8J1DU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391271660&sr=8-1&keywords=lexar card reader

The camera to computer is not a route I'd normally use as it:
1. stops me using the camera
2. flattens the battery.
3. is usually slower
To be honest when I am transferring from camera to pc I am at home and have no need to use the camera, not bothered about battery and my card reader is not as fast as the camera pc route,i have checked the link and no doubt I will go down the route of a new reader.

Qick update, i uploaded 800 images via my old card reader ,it took ages but it uploaed them all no problem, looks like the card is fine just my method of uploading.

Glad the issue was a non-issue. You can get USB3 card readers (if your computer is USB3 ready) which should speed things up a fair bit for you. Or set the card uploading on the slower reader and make a cuppa while it's doing its thing!

Mine old one got so slow, replaced it a couple years ago with a newer one, betters speeds now :)

...and if your PC is not USB3 ready, you can get a USB3 to PCI card and a USB3 reader. The difference in speed is remarkable. It used to take me about 20 minutes to download one of my cards, now less than 5.

I'm glad you have sorted. Personally I do not use anything bigger than 16gb and I try to change them before they are full. Just in case, one day, the card breaks.
CF cards quite cheap now from online retailers
