Central Heating

We live in East Riding between York and Hull and our central heating hasn't been on yet. Having just been invited by my supplier to renew my contract which is due to end in the next 6 weeks, with the money they want, I doubt its ever going to be switched on again!

My wife said thank you this morning as the bathroom was warm. As I hadn't turned the Htg on I just said OK. When I checked the frost thermostat the battery compartment was loose and it had reset to 20C so the Htg came on even though the timer was OFF. Soon fixed so it will be a cold bathroom tomorrow, I think that I may go out early ;)

You old romantic "the heating must have gone wrong dear - cuddle up with me to keep warm".

Just put our circulation pump on tonight, the house being really chilly when I got in, even though I'm wearing a jumper.

I'm on a fixed tariff for another 6 months.
I pay £95 combined gas & electric ( that went up 20 quid last renewal)
God knows what it'll be next year though.

We pay less in the warmer months, £50ish and more in the colder ones £80ish. My fixed tariff is coming to an end, on renewal they want £105 and £155 respectively!

My CH works on a thermostat so it comes on when it gets cold enough rather than me "putting it on". It came on for the first time since spring last evening.

Not even close to heating yet, sat watching TV now with bifold doors open a little. I'm with Bulb for the last few years and never been on a fixed tariff so I'll monitor my bills monthly and buy the wife a thicker jumper.

I was paying £52 a month, electric only and have built up a huge credit over the past year
At the beginning of the month my supplier E-ON next contacted me to talk about going on a fixed
contract as they predicted my DD going up to £62 a month
So I am now on a 2 year fixed contract paying slightly less then I was, will leave my credit on the account for now and see how things go, no heating on yet temp in house is still 22 degrees

I am also with bulb on a variable tariff but can end it any time without penalty. After 6 months they reduced it again a further 6 months later. They have just informed, me that the rate will increase by 37% from today so I may look around for another deal. I note that, while Bulb have not folded, they are borrowing to presumably fund fixed rate tariffs.
