I thought Channel four had lost it because of some of their dire programming, but tonight's episode of the Simpsons has gone too far. I can understand editing certain bits out, either because they're clearly unsuitable for pre-watershed, or because they have to cut bits to make room for their disgustingly long ad breaks...but editing the word 'pervert' out really is taking the ****. In less than 30 seconds I counted no less than 4 obvious cuts, where no attempt had been made to leave the plot unscathed. What you ended up with was 30-45 seconds of dailgue that made no sense whatsoever. What really grinds my gears is that after the Simpsons they show Hollyoaks, which is packed with sleaze and controversy. Not to mention showing Friends on a saturday or sunday morning with words left in that the swear filter here edits out!

How on Earth can they justify it?

I watched it but didn't notice the cuts, however I did hear the farmer say "someones in for a serious ass forking" which I thought was a bit risque'.

I don't. I think warnings befroe a show and parents maybe watching with kids were appropriate is a better approach than mindlessly butchering TV shows. Like I said, what really riles me is the other garbage C4 show before the watershed. It's disgraceful.

I'm off to work the bag for a bit :bat:

I expected my 8 yo daughter to ask me what the farmer meant

People soiled our green, pmsl

There is a good chance that Channel 4 bought a "pre-watershed" version from the USA which has been censored to suit the Bible Belt :D

It's just annoying, but C4 aren't the only ones who murder good TV with excessive censorship. Sky 1 are another, plus many other satellite channels. Yet turn on Military History (Sky 531, highly recommended for those interested in Mil History, especially WW2) and you can see gritty, uncensored TV any time of the day.

Edit: What?! No rolleyes smiley?!

am I the only one who can't stand the Simpsons??

I noticed it when Apu was getting married. They cut out the bit when Bart and Lisa were taking to his mum in the kitchen, and they made reference to the "dot" on her forehead.

I mean, come on??? Bart asked if she could see out of it???

I didn't see the C4 episode tonight, but in the past I've noticed some pretty shocking editing of fairly innocuous words during The Simpsons. This whole censorship thing is only going to get worse as time goes on.

The best piece of crap censoring on Channel 4 was Robocop.

"You're going to be one bad mother crusher!"

Censorship is ridiculous. It's all part of helping parents to avoid the issues they should be teaching their children about.

It can be terribly dangerous as well, for instance in China over 400 pornographic* websites are being banned or taken down, whilst hidden amongst them are websites that allow or encourage political dissent and disagreement with the Government.

*In the UAE one website that is blocked for pornographic content is Flickr.

Steady now, this is going in to political realms...I was only having a rant about channel 4!

By far the worst/most blatant piece of censorship was the BBCs version of Candyman by Christina Aguilera. They played the original version for quite a while until some bright spark realised what the words meant, they still play the censored version and it makes me cringe.

I used to think it was funny but almost 20 years of it has worn me down, family guy is funny though

Try watching it in German...

And Family Guy...bizarrely Stewie sounds exactly the same in German as in English...

Arkady, I've seen some German Family Guy, it's hilarious...but for all the wrong reasons. NCIS is another that makes me howl in German. There's something about Mark Harmon's acting style that just doesn't work when he's dubbed

On he radio a week or so ago they were talking about Arnold Schwarzenegger and the terminator film, he wanted to dub it into German himself but the Germans said no because he's Austrian, when Austrians speak to Germans they sound like farmers because of their accent

Oil Bee Bark:lol:
