Celebs or famous people from your town

Yikes I forgot about all those people! Some quite well known ones, Guy Ritchie's parents live in Seaview I think although they're not celebs, Madonna did come here with Guy Ritchie when they were together.

According to Wiki, my home town:

My current town apparently:

* John Stonehouse who was once a high flying member of Harold Wilson's government, being the last holder of the post "Paymaster General". He was the man who introduced second class stamps.

* If you extend a radius a little, quite a few famous people live/lived nearby on the Waterside. For instance there was Millvina Dean, last survivor of the Titanic, who lived in Ashurst. Chris Packham lives down Ashurst way too, by all accounts. Colbury Manor was used by Mark Hill as a recording studio; Craig David recorded at least one album there.

My birthplace, Denbigh:

John Rowlands, he found Dr Livingstone

My hometown, Ruthin:

Gabriel Goodman
Princess Daisy of Pless (of the Cornwallis-West family)
Tom Pryce
Rhys Ifans (I knew him as Rhys Evans)
Neil Taylor

Yes. They went to one of my favourite pubs (now closed) The Lake Huron. I think Guy's parents live in Haylands.

Steve.

I forgot Terry Waite.

He went to my school

I *think* round here we've had at various times, Tony Hancock, Mary Shelley, Max Bygraves, RL Stevenson, prob a few more as well

Roald Dahl, Griff Rhys Jones, John Humphrys, Shirley Bassey, Ivor Novello and Captain Morgan (of the rum!)

And quite a few rugby players and footballers (one is apparently making a name for himself at the moment, somebody called Gareth Bale?)

EDIT
And how could I forget the musical genius that is Shakin' Stevens!

Fred West lived about 5 streets away from me :-/

Simon Pegg went to school about 5 mins from my house according to my Brother in Law who was in the year above him

Prince Charles and Princess Anne aren't a million miles away, and her daughter and bloke with the nose had a house in Minchinhampton for a bit before they moved onto Gatcombe park.

Quite a few rugby players and a cricketer too.

And randomly John Stafford Smith, the composer of the US national Anthem lived here too.

Pretty sure (almost) Des O Connor lives around Brampton, also the singer from the Hollies (Alan Clarke) lives near Roade. One of the band members from Coast to Coast (Do the Hucklebuck for those that can remember) came from the village I live in, I think he was the drummer

Being from Cardiff, there's loads to choose from, but....
Although not in the same year, my daughter went to the same school as Geraint Thomas, Sam Warburton and Gareth Bale....

Gustav Holst the composer (The Planet Suite) despite his name is probably Cheltenham's most famous person.
Coincidentally, I was in Cheltenham on Saturday and saw the sign for his museum. I didn't know he was from there. Must return and check it out... :)

Never mind Town... from my little village...

Don Fox.

(poor b****r never lived it down for the rest of his days on earth...)
