If I have a game which was for Win95, how do I get it to work now?

The instructions say put in drive, then select drive, type Disc and press enter

Well, I put the disc in the drive and opened the folder, it had a Windows Batch File and an Application file on it, I double clicked on the Batch file and it tells me that I have to terminate the application as it doesn't work on full screen mode

Can anyone help me to get this game installed or even playable?

Thanks

Cheers Neil, I'll have a look at that

Downloaded DOSBOX but not got a clue what to do now. Tried typing the E:Disc but it doesn't recognise the drive

I've mounted the drive, but it now comes up with Sound Driver Configuration and won't accept anything

What version of Windows are you currently running as you might be able to right click the batch or exe file and go to properties, then select run in "Win XP Mode" or something similar

Yep, just tried that and I'm still getting the "This application does not support fullscreen mode. Choose 'close' to terminate the application

I've been trying to get hold of this game for years. I've finally got it and now can't play it :bang:

Cheers. I finally got it working. Am I going to.have to go through Dosbox everytime I want to play it though?

I would think so or try last suggestion in that link I posted.

Ok, cheers :)

Come on then, tell us all what game it is, i'm intrigued now :)

Discworld

Absolutely loved it when I was at Uni. So I haven't played it in about 15 years

Ahh yes, i was more into Monkey Island and Broken Sword

Might have to try and dig those out now you've started this thread

Can't say I remember those. We played Discworld for hours. Fond memories of it

If you've got access to an android or IOS tablet you can run Discworld in the ScummVM app :)

Really?! I will definitely have to try that. You may have made my day. Thanks

I still play astrorock under windows 95 compatibility mode in windows 7 and it works fine :)

Full Throttle and Grim Fandango FTW!!! Although Discworld was great too...the humour found in all the point and click games was brilliant

All the LucasArts games were classics, every single one. *sniff* tears of nostalgia...need to get scummvm up and running again :)

I played a text based adventure game on the Acorn Electron for weeks back on the late 80s

I got to a point where I was trapped in an empty swimming pool with glass windows but no ladders to get out

After trying everything I could think of I typed break glass window

The reply was, thrown out for vandalism, game over

Weeks wasted, I couldn't face starting again
