I have moved on from a CD in a wallet and now have a source for good quality jewel cases and have got a stock of inlays and booklets for the cases but I have yet to sort the CD/DVD itself.

I am after a professional finish for the disc itself. In the trade the artwork is generally printed using a silk screen process which is fine/cost effective for a few thousand at once but I am after a service that sends you some discs with your required artwork printed on them if it exists..............

I could live with a generic image but would like the option of a quick turnaround bespoke image option so if anyone has any pointers they would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I've just been recommended these chaps:

I can't vouch for quality though, as i've never used them.

Do you mind me asking what you're using for cases/inlays etc?

Thanks for the link - I will take a peep.

Cases are for a professional presentation when providing a digital only (or as well as) service. Got some generic booklets/inlays for 3 themes/genres (from my images).

Have you tried printing your own?
Most modern printers provide a tray, and white face printable disks are commonplace.. Would let you have a standard image on the disk and adapt the text for each customer..

I do not have a printer at home as have never found the need (I have use of laser printers & proofers at work). I may look into the option you suggest although I have just been looking at the colorworld service which is £2.50 per disc - just finding out more info.
What printer do you suggest?
Does the printer come with the tray that allows for printing directly onto the disc?
What sort of quality would you expect from it and what sort of price?

Cheers.

I think i'm in the same boat as you Adrian...

Just looking at different options....

Been thinking about printing at home, but haven't looked into any printers yet....Although, price of ink cartidges puts me off! :(

£2.50 per time soon adds up - dedicated printer for this task could be worth a look, especially as you could get a bespoke image to disc very quickly....

Need some pointers on best printer for the job now - is that another thread do you think??

And would basic software come with the printer to enable the importing/placing of your artwork onto the disc?

My old Canon ip4300 came with its own software, and Nero does a very good job of it :)

Yep, and if its only one disk at a time, then add vat and delivery onto that! Works out around £7!

Yep, that was going to be my next task - i'll leave it to you though :naughty:;)

Thanks Sam - may start another thread on 'best printer for the job'. Quick searches are spitting out the Epson R220 but would be good to get some user feedback........

New thread ahoy.
