CCTV recommendations

I want a one-camera, narrow angle cctv system with hard drive continuous recording. There are so many options out there that I'm getting a bit lost in the swamp of alternatives.

I want to monitor an alleyway so don't need wide angle and want continuous recording with motion markers.

Anyone use anything similar that they could recommend?

No, I'm afraid those won't do. I already have a Blink camera with motion sensing and that works up to a point but I really want a system that will record everything 24 hours a day so that requires a hard drive in a dedicated unit. There are commercial ones on the market but trying to get one with a narrow angle camera is quite hard. They all seem to want to record everything regardless of the quality but I want to record a specific piece of land at high quality, even at night; I want to know exactly who is prowling about not just that someone is.

It certainly doesn't require a dedicated NVR. The one I linked I have and it records 24/7 on a 64gb SD card.
Here is another that has an optical zoom so you can set it how you like.

I also have mine set to record to my NAS as well. You can set motion alerts up and they get tagged.

I fitted a setup from these folks a few years back https://www.digitaldirectsecurity.co.uk/ and I've been happy with it, within the limits of the wide angle cameras I have. The basic recorder could have a better interface, but it all works and the whole multi camera system with larger drive, top of range cameras bits and bobs came to about £400. Clearly the wide angle cameras aren't what you want, but I would suggest giving them a call.

We have a number of Hikvision IP cameras connected via PoE to a PC running Milestone XProtect software which is free for up to 8 cameras. The Hikvision cameras come with a variety of lens focal lengths and image resolutions. I would look at one with a 6mm lens if you want to cover a narrow field of view
