Currently trying To buy an item on marketplace but I’m getting the jitters. It’s well below the price they go for , I.e unwanted prize .. it’s being listed For sale In Chester but the seller is listed as living in Cambridge .. it also states he will post .. and joined Facebook in 2023 … everything tells me it’s dodgy ,messaged saying I can pick up today . Waiting* on a reply .. will update later
 
I'd only consider that if I could meet the seller face to face and see the item.
 
Under asking price doesnt overly concern me, I often will list something to get rid of it rather than get the most I can. I then just ignore all the posts that offer half the advertised price or less 5 minutes after it was posted. That said I will only ever buy from Marketplace face to face, im usually the seller.
 
I'll go and collect it for you in Cambridge or at least you can tell the seller that.
I'm only a few miles up the road from Cambridge so it would look genuine

told him I would collect it at asking price . no further replies .. it appears theres quiet a few of these I can only post it scams starting to appear . the item in question was advertised as unwanted prize for £150 when I know the retail around £1000 .. caveat emptor
 
I think an item listed for 15% of its actual value should ring massive alarm bells. Unwanted gift or not, that’s simply too good to be true.

Even then, I can think of at least 2 common outcomes that wouldn't end well.

1. Goods could be stolen (or fake or broken in done easy you can't spot etc)

2. You get robbed. This used to be a popular pastime in America where robbing somebody can be as easy as buying a gun from Walmart. If you are meeting to buy, you are a great target because you will have cash or the means to get it.

Personally, I stay away from bargains like this.
