You can't paint over silicone - paint runs off of it.I'd have thought caulk woud be better if your painting over it, painting over sealant/silicone I've found cracks way before caulk.
I tried, many years agoI knew there was a reason I don't paint over sealant/silicon
Yep, caulk if you need to paint. You may need to do it twice as it is prone to shrinkage.
It only costs £1 a tube, so no big deal.
I'll rush down and get a dozen...
The only caulk worth using is this -

With newer water-based paints there have been loads of problems with caulk 'crazing' when painted, and if you have a wide gap to fill then its very likely to happen.
They all need time to dry before painting over, but this stuff seems to need way less time, and has yet to let me down...
Good link. I've been looking for adjustable nozzles - they are hard to come by. Most places that had them have discontinued them.
I'll give them a try.
2 and 3 are no good. 2nd doesn't have them and 3rd is wholesale.

Aren't all nozzles adjustable with a stanley knife?
Yeah, sorry - it's been a very long week and the word adjustable didn't register properly. I'll think on it, as I'm sure I heard something recently about a place selling them..2 and 3 are no good. 2nd doesn't have them and 3rd is wholesale.
Screwfix used to have them, but discontinued them. As have Craig and Rose, Farrow and Ball, Russell Paints, Johnstones...
No. Adjustable as in a two or three part nozzle that swivels down the length of the nozzle to get into tight spaces.
How about these Ken ?
