Working in the motor trade I'm bored of cars as I change them every couple of weeks whereas I used to be a real petrolhead.

I've just changed to a new Juke 1.6 Turbo 4wd with a torque vectoring diff and my petrolhead tendencies are coming back, it's just an absolute giggle to drive and I love the fact it looks different to most things out there. What cars have changed your thoughts about cars and why?

I like the look of the Juke as well.

The fiat Seicento Sporting (Michael Schumacher Edition), whilst being a completely awful car, is an absoleutely awesome city car. As long as you mainly stay in second and rev the nuts off it, it is a nippy little car that corners well and made me laugh. Yes my size 12 feet sometime hit the clutch and brake at the same time, and yes it was bright yellow, but when I drove it like I stole it, it was great. Worked for a car hire co, so swapped my car on a daily basis and so did get bored of them.

The other car I really remember was an Astra Coupe. They did one with blue suede seats and blue seatbelts and it looked so nice on the inside. Didn't drive well, but was lovely just to sit in.

And I drooled over a metallic blue dodge viper (origional bodyshape) with 2 white racing stripes down the bonnet and roof. lovely car, but impractical and I will alas probably never own one.

I haven't really had many cars, and although at times I hate my car there's times where I just love it and I couldn't bring myself to sell it as I know I'd regret it!

I have often thought what I'd buy next, but I really don't know. Being a Ford man, I'd love a Mk2 Escort or a 3 Door Cosworth!

My crusty, old, noisy, slow, uncomfortable, slow, noisy old Landrover 109 did it for me.
2.25L of ancient leaded petrol goodness trying to haul 2 tons of metal around on huge radial tyres.

It wasnt pretty, but it put a smile on my face most of the time. Apart from when the drum brakes stopped working, the gear stick fell off, the clutch got stuck, the engine died, the lights went mental..........

Several cars have ignited a spark with me. Had several Bettles and campers but moved to a Pontiac Firebird ('89 - Knight Rider shape) which had a manual box = <3! cost an arm and a leg travelling to work every day but insurance wasn't bad at 21!
Had a Datsun 100a after that, huge drop in power but was a magazine cover car but only really wheels, springs and a respray from original speck. That was a lovely car really enjoyed crusing at low speed in that :) had a nasty tendancy to scrap tyres on arch though on nasty bumps!

went sensible after that, had a kid and got a Saab 93 Areo and then a Xsara Picasso.

All a bit boring really bring on the midlife crisis!

The most fun I've ever had in a car (not in the back of a car) was a 15 year old MX5, not that fast but handling like a go kart

midlife crisis? sounds more like you completed a degree in dentistry!

Miss my old 5 turbo lol, would have another one tomorrow but have set my heart on all out photo holiday to somewhere like Madagascar after watching Attenborough tonight so need to save a few pennies:)

i always used to change cars every few months , but have had my little lotus elise for 7 years now and love it more every time i drive it

i really fancy a defender to go with it though

I'm only 30 but have been driving nearly 14 years now. After a couple of turbo'd cars i now drive a 2010 Honda Civic Type R, which has really hit the spot for me. I feel like i'm learning to drive all over again as i can not rely on the turbo in any gear to push the car on.

Although i did have a go in a Mercedes AMG C63 (6.3l V8 500bhp) at the weekend and would love to be able to afford one of those!

Looking forward to going to a few car shows and rally events this year too.

Had a Stag for several years .... Loved the smell, loved the noise ....... Hated the cost :D

At the moment I love my Honda S2k, for the cost it's right on the smiles per pound factor(Porsche/BMW too dear) and since I got great discount off list, depreciation has been small. The Morgan was a hoot but so impractical, at least now we have a semi decent boot and a hood that goes up in seconds rather than needing a calender.

I'll have to say, it was my Robin Reliant, the most fun and scary thing I've had the pleasure to sling round corners, absolutely epic :D

I have a Honda Integra Type R DC2 early Jap import, its awesome, noisey, uncomfortable and awesome! The go-faster extras help put a grin on me chops every time I go out, went to pick the Mrs up from work this evening and took me over an hour to colect her from 2 miles away due to a 'minor detour' :)

need to buy something sensible now though :(

Hillman Imp, used to run one as my only car, head gaskets were a service item. Nowadays just keep one for fun stuff (classic trialling).

Also, the Porsche Boxster S. Will have had mine 7 years this year as my everyday car, the handling and balance is amazing and it's not slow either. Still have no desire to ever replace it.

Mini Cooper S, the original 1960s one. Not powerful by today's standards, but guaranteed to bring a HUGE smile to your face.

The Rover 3500 SD1 was also great fun, bits used to fall off mid corner (on fairly new cars) but that V8 burble.....

I know you feelings I had my wonderful old 1977 Series 3 88 CSW 2.25 I love this car even if it has sat on my drive for nearly 4 years know as it failed it's MOT and I did not have the money for the repair so switched to my range rover full time, I will be selling it soon but I will only sell it to someone I know has the same passion as me and will keep it on the road

I know I am sad but I love the old girl

I'm not very interested in cars, and don't miss any of the ones I've owned at all, but I've always wanted a DB5 or a DB6. Way beyond my price range now, but I still find them iconic.

My Mondeo ST TDCi. Large family car but with great handling, lovely, comfy Recaro seats. Only had the car since last August but look forward to every journey.
Other than that not a car as such but at work we have an electric Bradshaw personel carrier (or buggy as we call it) just like the one Austin Powers gets stuck in a corridor in the original film.

Not exactly fast but get it on a painted factory floor with a bit of water and it's great for 360 degree spins, crashing into barriers, used to be able to just switch motor into reverse and lock the back wheels up, (burnt out a few motors in the process) and better still riding the front corner up the 45 degree bracing on a staunchion (sp) and have it come crashing back down again. Said buggy has a somwhat bent chassis now from plenty of abuse, has to be placed on tressels from time to time and put a 5 tonne weight on it to straighten it out again. Never seems to last long before it's bent again, can't imagine why.

My completely original Renault Clio Williams - car 25 of only 390 imported.

GREAT fun, still goes like a rocket even after 16 years! Soon to be sold, God I'm gonna miss that car :'(

Got to agree with Graham on the 3.5 V8 SD1, would die for one.
Alternatively I would also have a rover P6 V8.

Dream car would be an original shelby GT500 in 1967 uniform.

Can you tell that I like V8's :D

I used to love my mkII Golf GTIs, had several (both 16v and 8v and preferred the latter). I'd happily drive and own one again today.

VW Type 3 Fastback has probably been the most comfortable car i`ve ever had. Handling was awful especially in the snow

Most fun was a MK1 Cortina 1500GT sleeper (looked like a 1200 2 door)

Most costly was a Chevy Blazer. About 10mpg around town

Now i just run a 53 plate X-Trail that`s pretty bullit proof :D Basic as **** compared to the Blazer, but I get a lot more milage to the gallon, and servicing is easy and local

X Trail REPRESENT! :woot:

Sorry, went a bit street there.

I run a 55 plate 2.2DCI sport. Very nice motor, although I'd still prefer a landy. Got my M3 service coming up. (actually its been coming up for nigh on a year) Not looking forward to that. :runaway:

been right round the block with motors... got my first ever brand new car in 1995 (age 25), Golf Driver 1.8 bright red - loved it!
then moved onto a BMW 320i Coupe.. V6, black with black leather.. thought i'd hit the jackpot with that until... BMW 328i Coupe, silver with purple (yes purple) leather. hmmm.. oh yes.. then kids.. so it was a Merc C280 auto... smooth as ice. Got the mrs a car next so i could go back to my toys.. Audi S3 - un-bel-ieva-ble... it was like driving a car on rails.
next was a Nissan 350Z.. imported with some fancy exhaust kit on it.. that was a minter too...nowadays the Mrs is in an Audi A4 cab, and i'm in a bloody '51 plate Golf 1.9D estate! does the job with no grief though.

favourite has got to be the S3

Hillman Imp, used to run one as my only car, head gaskets were a service item. Nowadays just keep one for fun stuff (classic trialling).

In 1978 a mate got an old Imp as his first car, we were all on Yamaha RD250s and Suzuki GT 250s so he was immediately a step up the pulling ladder.

He got a new girlfriend and drove down to the chip shop in the High St where we used to hang out to show her off

30 bikes all lined up and he stops in the middle of the road in the Imp looking cool.

She gets out to go in the chip shop but leaves the door open

He decides it'd look really cool to drive off fast so the door would shut as he pulled away, so he gave it the red line, dropped the clutch and screeched off.

Exactly to plan the door slammed shut, what didn't go to plan was the window fell out dropped into the door and smashed into a million pieces

New girlfriend was unimpressed with the draughty ride home

just found my 350z pics from when i was selling it....:'( ....

The Vauxhall Nova - I was incredibly anti Nova until I wrote off my Mazda and didn't have a lot of cash, so bought a £250 1.4SR. Wasn't particularly impresed, was slower and soggier than the Mazda, but wit ha few choice improvements it became a whole different beast! I had 3 of them at one stage. I've since had bigger and better, but nothing has ever come close to being as capable on my local back lanes as that rusty old bucket was!

I was daft enough to race 911 in it once, it wasn't as complete a thrashing as you'd expect either (He must have been a typical poser tbf).

I always regret I never had a 2.0 16v conversion or a 1.6 16v turbo.

I think you'll find the guy wasn't trying, unless you genuinely believe that a £250 car that had 75bhp when new will give a 911 a run for it's money......:naughty:

For now my mk1 fiesta's the most fun i've drove, quite a laugh on roundabouts :D lairy 1300 xflow in it
Soon as i've had a go in my dads escort i'm sure i'd say that would have put the biggest smile on my face
I had a Mk1 Fiesta 1.3GL, stuck a K&N pancake airfilter on the twin choke webber, Sachs sports suspension and 13" sports steel wheels off a Mk3 Cortina shod with 165/60x13 tyres. Made a lovely deep growl on full throttle and great handling too.

I loooooove my Imp. Its sat in the garage having a winter rest but once I get my uni work done at the end of March it will be time to drag it out the garage and give it some tlc. I have a supercharger just waiting around asking to be bolted on :-)

Oh it wasn't standard (High compression 1300 head, ported manifolds, Kent Cam rejetted carb and timing set up to run on 100RON, usual K&N open filter too), and like I said he was a typical Porsche poser, couldn't lose a Nova = can't drive.
